Cool 😎 Strange 🤪 or obscure 🙃 / interesting things...

Back in 1991 I had just bought a brand new 900ss. A good friend of mine was into racing and he persuaded me to have a go in the novice class at Cadwell.
We all followed the instructors around for a couple of laps and then off we went. After a few laps I`d sort of got the hang of it ( I hadn`t) and was convinced I was a track day god in the making ( I wasn`t) and there I was, throttle pinned wide open, bike leaning over at an impossible angle only to be easily overtaken on the outside by a bloke on a CX500 of all things.
I know my place now and am happy pottering along looking the bunnies in the fields .

Knowing 'there's always someone faster' is a good way of not over riding your skill / comfort level - otherwise your ego can outdo your skill very quickly.

That Sue Barker has gone to seed....

Is it not written that rhe 916 project was a 7 year endeavor? 1987 would be the beginning of the Project 916. I have read that the NSR had some influence on the 916's design but if they truly started in 87-88 then by the time the NSR was released the bike would have been fairly well under development and making huge changes late in development is unusual as it requires redesigning many parts. My guess would be that they were already moving in the final direction and the NSR just added more polish to an already solid design. They already had the trellis frame, L2 motor and geometry numbers in place with the 888. The supermomo had the basic fairing/body style and that leaves only the under seat exhaust and SSS. I am no expert but I have read quite a bit about these bikes, like most of you have, and I can see how the NSR could have contributed some to the design I just dont think it was all that much. Ducati's have always been beautiful
