To clarify British farmers are being persuaded to plant trees. Whilst this sounds great, our ever expanding population needs feeding, and shipping produce around the world when we are capable of being self sufficient in a lot of what we consume, with judicious land usage.........

Agreed. Trees, plants, Co2 consuming and oxygen producing organisms in general should be considered. The point was to redirect money from useless efforts into one that actually provides a benefit and is relatively simple to accomplish. Trees provide the most IMO and we've managed to decimate their population globally, take a look at what's been going on in South America.

The effort should be carefully planned and executed keeping agricultural requirements in mind.
 
I wholeheartedly agree, I think the destruction of the Amazonian rain forrest is horrendous, and very short sighted.
Whilst I'm against a 'One World Government' I would like to see international pressure (in the form of carrots, not sticks) put on these countries who are destroying 'the lungs of the world'.

The destruction is lead by money, which means large corporations, which mean governments.

The WEF pushes the corporate / government partnerships. In other words, the governemnts are facilitators for big business. They are not for the people, or the planet. They are for themselves.
 
International pressure 'could' (but I'm not holding my breath) come from a boycott of produce. The supermarkets won't stock what the people won't buy. If all meat and seasonal fruit and veg was sourced from the UK (and Ireland) before topping up with foreign foods British agriculture would prosper and if other countries followed suit there would be no need for deforestation.

They moan there is not enough snow on piste during the summer and moan there is too much snow on the piste in the winter. Ski Guinness's are just the cyclists of the snow
 
That winter, I was a baby, under 12 months, I ended up in hospital with gastroenteritis, my mum and dad said, they were told I was unlikely to survive, I was so ill, even having the local vicar come round to console them, asking if they wanted him to pray for my soul, at my bedside.
