I think in China it is used in the cement industry as fuel.

According to an article on the beeb the UK seems to be beating most of the global nations it lists as well as the EU and Germany in reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
The graph shows uk has achieved a 50% reduction since 1990. You can check how each how each Country ranks in emissions and their pledges from the drop down menu in the link below.

A number of trials happened where they changed the cows foodstuff and replaced it with a seaweed based synthetic food source that is claimed to reduce cow farts by 80 percent. As usual with such sciences, they are based on models and guesstimates by the green movement.
After a 3 year trial in Australia however, they found the cows ate less food due the dislike of the synthetic substitute. This gave a side effect of the cows producing less meat so you would have to have MORE cows to meet the same level of meat
