Just picked these Pilot road 3's up from the post office this morning to replace the well and truly shot tyres on there hopefully get them fitted tomorrow.
Be interesting to see if the wear stacks up like some of the reviews. Some claim well over 6000 miles.
I had no idea the word Sipes existed until a week ago when I started googling reviews of the PR, :p apparently thats the name of the grooves cut into the tyre that channel the water.
Anyway, I think they're funky and will try to use the word sipes more often in conversation. :D

Notice BTW that the rear is the special edition Ducati Corse model with the red and green trim, :lol2:

Keep us posted on what they are like. It gets kind of wet here on the west coast of Norway so they may be an option come tyre change time. Tested my Batlax's out on hail today - 'interesting'.

Will do, it gets kinda wet here on Skye too, :p
I think the Battlax are getting a bit long in the tooth now, they were the must have back in the before time and the long long ago, bikes and tyre tech has come a long way since.
TBH i've never been a fan of them.
Was a fan of Avon for a long time but recently had some probs with the Roadriders on a bike recently, (just sold), I still like them generally speaking but decided to give these a go as i've heard nothing but good reviews about wet handling and longevity especially.
I don't need full on sticky sport tyres as i'm no track star but wanted something that was a good comprimise between decent handling for the odd spirited blast and decent wet performance.

They were on the bikw when I bought it so I though I'd just wear them out. It's the first time I've owned a bike that needs more than a 120 on the back so I'm still feeling my way about. I think the tyre's limits may be beyond mine. Never really been much of a fan of Michelins mainly because of wet weather handling. Avon and Metzler. I don't need a banzai tyre either and it sounds like your tyre requirements are about what I'm going to be looking for once the Batlax's are worn out. Been to Sky before, It was glorious weather. That was about 1975 and things have warmed up a little since then so the weather can'r be soooo bad! :P

I had a piece of sipe action last year:

I found them to be fairly long lasting (I got 6,000 miles out of a set) and they were good tyres in the wet, although a bit like 4wd on a car, they can't defy physics - most of the time when you have a moment in the wet it's not the tyre sliding on the wet tarmac, it's the tyre sliding on the wet leaves / mud / crisp packet / diesel, etc.

They do look cool though...

Had the same problem in spades on Friday - nature's ballbearings - hail!
