Hi All,

Went out for a ride today was about 2 miles away from my house on my way back, I was dying for the toilet so I decided to pull into Hamilton services off the M74. I had been in 6th gear sitting at about 70 or so for a good few miles. I began to slow the bike down to turn off into the services i dropped 2 gears and was slowing down nicely went to select 3rd gear but the lever jammed. had to hammer on my brakes to slow the bike down to get round the corner. Not sure if its stuck in 3rd or 4th. This wasn't the worst thing that happened though, The local friendly rice burners( suzuki and yamaha owners) were all waiting in the car park as I trundled up. Embarassed doesn't even cover it!!!!!! The patter was all, European exotica my ar$e, get yourself a real bike. I fiddled around for a bit with, It well and truely stuck!! Called the AA, I told them the bike was un-ridable and they should just send a pick up trick. In their wisdom they send one of there idiots in a yellow van who arrives after about an hour. He walked round the bike, then asked which part was stuck i said the gear lever and he asked which side is that on this kind of bike!! i mean come on its 2008!!!!!, After a short time the clown dressed in yellow agreed and sent a tow truck. Heres the pictures..

Bummer. AA are pants, but can as I found out, they tend to know their way back to Ducati Dealers! Hope its something simple, think Dunc(thediver) had similar trouble with his 848?

Sorry to hear that and hope easily and quickly sorted. :)

On the bright side:

1. You forgot how badly you needed the loo
2. They obviously didn't know what size a Hypermotard was. Sounded big so send the biggest vehicle we have!
3. They were good enough to pick a vehicle colour that didn't clash with your bike.

Good luck.

Sorry to hear about your problem but not to worry it will be sorted out soon I'm sure.

Hi Graeme,
Probably the gear lever return spring. Happened to my monster and recently to 1098. Same symptoms as yours. Not that difficult to fix.

Geoff

Thanks all, I'll hear tomorrow what's happened. Hopefully its just the spring Geoff cause the bike was going great and i was really enjoying it.

Ducati girl, the bikes back @ DG, 69jme69, it was me!!

Paul, I don't suit orange I would suit Silver and red though;)

glad you sound a bit chirpier today and I'm sure you'll have that hyper back soon and love it just the same - better than the flymo anyway  :D
