I am probably going to Catalunya MotoGP this year (flying ) and, for anyone who might also be interested it is an easy trip to put together to visit a superb circuit and event.

Tickets £40-60 for the weekend at www.circuitcat.com (buy online )

Airfare £120 return from Edinburgh by Globespan (www.flyglobespan.com) but ther will be cheap flights from Manchester, Leeds, etc too. I will probably fly out Friday and back Monday but have not finally decided.

Accommodation - obviously variable, and harder to get close to the circuit but better to stay downtown and get the bus/metro up to the circuit. Find various places at www.accorhotels.com (Formula 1, Ibis, etc) for £50 a room.

That's about £230 for the trip excluding beer and food money.

Anyone else interested ?
 
Hmmmm... definitely how long you going for?

Tickets/flights/car hire shouldn't be a problem, accomodation is my only worry, plus traffic in and out I guess

I'd fly from Mcr or Liverpool (if possible) makes sense as they're on the doorstep.
 
Spanish GP sound great Borderduc.:) I have friends in Spain (Bilbao, about 340m from Catalunia) and planing visiting them sometime this summer. I'm taking my van to Plymouth (leaving it there), ferry to Santander and from there on, Duke.:D Plenty of space for another Duke, and rider
 
I am planning to fly out on Friday from Edinburgh, which would allow time to see Saturday morning practice and afternoon qualifying and then , of course, the big race on Sunday. Also time for a bit of sightseing in Barcelona on Monday during the day before flying back in the evening.

I went to this event two years ago and was stunned by it. The circuit and facilities are like nothing I'd ever seen. We stayed in Barcelona and travelled up by public transport (train) to the station which is very close to the circuit. There were huge numbers of people but no queues as such and no delays in moving about. And we were watching the racing in sunshine.

The tickets are available online now and I want to get mine booked in the next day or so. You can even check out the view from any stands on the web cam before you decide where you want to sit (get the website from my previous post) !. Donington it's not !.

I have not tried to check accommodation availability yet but I would expect to get an Ibis or something downtown. Places close to the circuit will probably be booked out quickly.
 
Dave you have definitely got my attention, I'll have a look at flights from down here and see what I can come up with, then go from there
 
I've now booked my race tickets online for myself and my mate Phil. We're in stand H, section 11, row 6, seats 1 and 2. €95 each for the weekend pass plus 1.50 service fee and we pick up the tickets at the circuit. It's an amazing booking system the way it lets you check out the view from any of the stands.

I am hoping to book my flights today (out Fri back Mon.

For accommodation, I have several useful websites. If a few of us are going then it would be good to try to get into the same one.
 
Catalunya package now complete. I've got my flights from Edinburgh and back (Fri-Mon) and have booked into IBIS Meridian in Barcelona (€60 a room).
