I registered for this last year but couldn't participate at the time they were doing the course. Received this today so if anyone is interested I would register asap

BikeSafe Initiative 2008


Thank you for your enquiry about our plans for the above scheme during 2008.

As keen ‘bikers’ we are once again looking forward to meeting up with you, having a chat and passing on some of our own personal experience. We are all operational police officers and as you can imagine, along with our daily commitments, there is a fair amount of administration required to organise BikeSafe. It is not uncommon for us to receive over three hundred requests for an invite per year.

With this in mind, I am now looking to schedule a Safety Presentation.

Can you attend our Safety Presentation at Strathclyde police Force training and recruitment centre, Jackton, East Kilbride on 20th April 2008 (circa 9.30 for a 10am start)? Light refreshments will be provided.


Due to the huge demand this year, the assessed rides will be carried out in the months following the presentation and arranged for weekends at a mutually convenient time and place.

Please note that applicants must attend the presentation to qualify for the assessed ride with an advanced police motorcyclist.

Received the same email myself a few days ago after trying to get into it last year, replied with a big yes!
Also received an email for the same course with the Fife police, so if anyone is interested in that one log onto the Fife police web site and go into the information centre on the site and there is an online application form in there.
 
Still waiting for a reply from the cheshire one. Seems they're stuck in some time warp for 2007 and haven't updated owt yet.

actually the seminar was really good - if a bit gory in parts for my liking. Hopefully we could all get together on the day.
 
it's a long story and a bit boring. Let's just say i'm back to normal and you can all prize it oot me when i get a bit pished ;) :D
 
unusual mate, pity you hadn't had it done fur oor wee stay in Lugano, could have got a free be, lol :p :D
 
i got accepted for this after waiting 3 years then couldnt do it coz the bike was in track trim. . . . :/
 
Thanks for the reminder. I'll be there and will probably come on the bike as the forecast looks good.:D

Any idea when it will finish? :)
 
Hi Mary, I don't know if it's the same in all regions but in Cumbria I've attended 2 x 2 hour theory sessions and tomorrow I have my ride assessment which should last just under 2 hours :eek:
 
not sure Mary - possibly 2-3 hours for the theory part tomorrow?? Duncan should be there too (Bigchunk). I imagine I will be in the car:(

Linzi good luck tomorrow (although you don't need it) - let us know how it goes.

When Michael did his a couple of years back he just did an assessed ride.

Tomorrow we're doing low speed manoeuvres, followed by city riding, then rural riding, stop for feedback then back out to put feedback for improvements into action - just as bad as doing my test again :lol2:
