For anyone who's out n' about on Sun and likes vintage cars & bikes, it's the annual Beamish run.
This year it will start & finish at Beamish museum for the 1st time in about 10 years.
I can't find the route on the 'net anywhere but it follows the same one every year and it's usually published in tomorrows Northern Echo.
If I remember right the route goes something like this,
start leaving Beamish at 9am at short intervals
Lanchester (I think)
Wolsingham
Barnard Castle - checkpoint at Bowes museum is a nice scenic one
The Stang forest
not sure from here but lunch stop at Bainbridge
come back via Tan Hill
Bowes
through Teesdale
over Bolihope common
Stanhope - through ford water level permitting, I think this checkpoint opens about 3pm - another good one to watch from but gets crowded
I think then up Crawleyside, Castleside & back to Beamish
I might get out to watch from somewhere but don't know if I can manage the bike yet, hopefully I will, weather supposed to be good Sun.
Bev.
