Bargain of the year ?

Interesting points about the feedback thing. I was going to put my old Kawa up on Fleabay but have never sold anything on there before. SteveK suggested I sell some smaller bits to build up feedback

Is it me being cynical but could it go something like this.......you end up buying it and seller wants cash (nothing wrong with that) Go and pick it up and he meets you as you get out of your car, walk to the lock-up You get jumped on by a load of guys, you get robbed of the cash and they run off leaving you beat up on the deck.

It would need cleaning up and an MOT on it to make the most out of it.

The usual trick is to ask for a deposit via paypal at the end of the auction but as this is a classified ad I think your scenario sounds more likely Steve

The Paso looks genuine to me but it would probably be worth seeing if someone local could pop in and verify it actualy exists . ;)

with the Paso I would want to talk to the owner on a landline and ask lots of questions, you soon get a feeling if it's for real.

there was a spate (sp?) of this going on the midlands, guy wins auction, turns up to pick up his new car / bike with a couple of grand in hand, knocks on door only to be held at gun / knife point and beaten and robbed....

Scam, Scam, Scam!!!

The reply to my enquiry about viewing the bike is as follows:

"I have to tell you that I'm currently out of town with some major business problems so pick up isn't an option. Sorry about that... Hope you will understand... But, you can still buy the bike... The selling price will be 1,900 pounds... For this price I will include free delivery of the bike anywhere in the UK. You will also have access to a refund policy on this transaction. However, before any delivery can be done we have to start the transaction on ebay so we can be both protected. In order to start the transaction on the eBay system I need to receive some details from you:
- your full name and address (for your invoice + delivery purposes)...
As soon as the above details will be provided I'll start the official transaction on eBay and they will notify you about this. You'll also receive important guidelines + instructions from them ( please go through them exactly ).
Will wait to hear from you. Thank you for your interest..."
Free delivery anywhere in the UK!!!! What a deal!!!
I assume I would then be sent a bogus Ebay or paypal invoice for me to make payment and then.....................Gone!!
My son was conned in a similar manner when he attempted to buy a mobile phone recently
I dont think I'll be taking the gentleman up on his kind offer somehow!!!

You reported this, yeah ?

It went for £666, the sign of the Devil! There is a payment and delivery method where you make the payment to a third party and the item is delivered to you and the seller picks up the payment from the third party. Can't remember what it's called.

Escrow, I think. Sounds very dodgy though!

Its back along with this   Also the second sellers other items are quite interesting

Paul

Reported again both before I saw your post.
2nd item is showing as unavailable with your link but is still available if you go directly onto ebay and search Ducati etc.! Reckon Japanese bikes are worth as little as Dukes according to his ad!;)

Interestingly the 999R is back up for sale but now the seller has 247 feedback and it's £10500 start or £11200 buy it now  Hijacked account possibly ? or the original seller ?
