Autumn Ride/Meet Oban, Sat 27 October

After the success of the imprompu meet at Oban me and Linzi have booked another Saturday night at the Wide Mouthed Frog in Oban for 27 October. We'll be riding up on Saturday via Ducati Glasgow, plan to get to the Frog late afternoon, adjourn to bar overlooking marina then head into town to either the Italian or a rather nice ickle restaurant called Coast in Oban. Pootle home Sunday via Inveraray and Glasgow.

So, is anyone up for a meet in Oban??? Its a nice run from most directions with good roads no matter which way you go. Loads of accommodation from B and B's through to flash hotels and plenty of bars for nightlife although Davie and Steve did struggle to find a gay bar.

Let me or Linzi know so we can book the restaurant, if theres a few of us we'll go to the Italian on the pier.

I definately cant make this.........Im working all that weekend.
 
Weather permitting, I could be up for a Sunday run. What time are you planning to leave Oban on the Sunday ?

I'm gonna see how I get on that weekend, I would like to come down.
 
I might make it over for the Sunday - weather permitting. That will probably be the last outing on the bike for me this year so it would be a good time for it.
 
Motorcycling in October - are you mad ?

I might be up for a run out - can I bring the KTM as the Duke is off the road for winter. I might have to bring Ewan (sorry Barry) on his GS12 if thats OK. He doesnt get out much and only gets on vitual rides out on the GS web site or by watching his much used Long Way Down DVD !

No, he's not mad but has got new Rukka kit and likes to demonstrate how superior it is to my Dainese :rolleyes:

As Michael will be on the Norge and me on the GS650 looks like it may be any bikes but Ducatis :o

i hadn't planned on an organised ride on either day :( thought it was a good location for everyone to find a nice route for themselves or in small groups, have a night together then head our seperate ways in the morning depending upon what time you get up :D.

if anyone wantsto plan a ride on the Sunday set a meet time for Oban or Inveraray taking into account the clocks change that day!!
 
That's me booked in to the frog. Anyone else going to come for the night?

What time are you going to leave ducati Glasgow Mike? I might try and hook up with you there.

So far we are 3 :(

I'm guessing we'll be at Duc glasgow for around 12 leaving at 1 but it'll depend upon how cold it is first thing :D
 
Too far for me for the day really and can't commit another weekend fully. Sounds like a good do, weather permitting, enjoy folks!
 
well i think i might try and use up some holiday , il just check the situation at work first. (can tie this in with a visit to parents)

yhey got thurs and fri off this week so i can wang it up to parents and stop off in oban on sat , finnaly il have a chance to do some of the west coast :D

all i have to do now is get somewhere to stay, i wonder just how long i can put that off for
 
errm one question , this restaraunt, is it in oban or if i get somewhere to stay in oban will i have a 3 mile walk to get there ?

we're staying at the wide mouthed frog about 3 miles out from oban, the restaurant we'll go to is the italian on the pier, called piazza. its in the centre of Oban and an easy walk from most hotels there.
 
i think im going to wimp out :(

after this mornmings frosty run into work , ive decided my cash would be better spent on heated grips /gloves /suit makeing bike run a bit better

also looking on map i though oban was in the far north of scotland, but its only just over the border , i was never very good at geography
