Good shout. Was that your 1st time at the event? Did you stay for a couple of days/what was the accommodation like? I did the North West last year, Armoy is on my to do list.
2nd time. Went last year too. Last year got first ferry over on the Sat and last ferry back on same day. So we left Ayr at half 5 in morning and got back about half 11 at night. This year got first ferry over on Saturday and came back on Sunday afternoon. So both times only went for Saturday racing. We stayed at the 5 corners hotel in Ballyclare. Hotel was great. We shared twin rooms at £65 a night with full breakfast in morning. So at £32.50 each and £40 return for ferry it's well worth it. Hotel bar attracts a band and a good crowd. Perfect after long day. Hotel defo needs booked in advance. We couldn't get back into it this weekend for Ulster races as fully booked. We couldn't go anyway for different reason. Couple of us venturing up to Oban tomorrow instead. While we were there we went to Portstewart and over the start grid of Northwest 200. Lovely part of the world. Giants causeway was paid a visit too. Then beer. Yaldiiiii! You can tag on with us next year if you like.
I did the "there and back" to the NW in a day as well - never again - the run from Stranraer in the dark (with my crappy monster headlight) was no fun. Thanks for the hotel tip and the invite, I may tag along next year!
