Arisaig Run

Weather still looking iffy but we've been fooled before (famous last words..) so let's stick to plan ie Tyndrum for 12. We can have a bit of lunch and take it from there. If it's hosing down over in the W we could always take a run in the E direction ( eg Killin-Aberfeldy-Sma Glen ?).

Chizum has left the building.
Great day already so I am away out playing Pre-Arisag run.
See you all at 12.00 at Tyndrum.:D:D

Well I missed it due to being too busy:o.... but looks like it might have been a grand day out!;)

Reports and pics please guys.....:)

Some more pics . Great day out , shame we had to cut home early. Saved us the embarrassment of arriving 30 mins behind them at the next wheelie bin fag stop :)

Take Care,

Well, finally back to base after 450 dry miles (and the two-fingered salute to the boys from the Met Orifice who said it would be wet on the W coast !).

The plan to leave a bit later than usual seemed to work as we weren't troubled too much by day-trundlers in four-wheelers. Once over the Corran Ferry and into the wilds of Moidart it was glorious open road, although the single-track section was a bit loose in places, not to mention being used to the limit by the oncoming tour bus just after Acharacle.

Beautiful sweeping bends most of the way to Mallaig (Arisaig was closed at 3.30 to hungry bikers wishing to boost the local economy !). Great fish and chips and a bit of banter next to the harbour and it was soon time for another dose of the bends, nay, Desmodromic Delirium, on the road back to Ft William. One of those roads where you torque-surf through stunning scenery, left-right-left etc for the best part of an hour before having to slow for Glenfinnan, then back into torque-surf mode for the final surge into Corpach and Ft William. Just what we bought Ducatis for ! :D:D.

The section down Loch Linnhe from Ft W to Ballachullish was the usual procession behind Mrs Codger of Central Belt but then the road opened up nicely from Glencoe back to Tyndrum, where a final stop for fuel and drinks was made. The hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows at the cafe where the Little Thief used to be is highly recommended as rejuvenating biker fuel.

All in all a good SDC day out with good roads and good company. Poor Chiz, though, must be wary of coming out with SDC again. After struggling to make our events due to his offshore rota, in one month he's filled his 848 with diesel, got a ticket for a loud can and ...........an ASBO !!!. Yes, the poor guy fell foul of the Road Nazis at St Fillans this morning who prefer counting decibels to catching burglars or drug dealers. Worst of all, though, he's got a new nickname and is henceforth known as................Vin Chizbo

ASBO! This is seriously worrying. I presume they have now started handing out ASBOs for having loud cans. Two ASBO tickets, or is it three? and they can seize your bike
Are they actually measuring the dB levels or is it down to the whim of the copper?
I didn't go on the run because Hindsight was bringing his engine to me for an overhaul and I decided it would be polite to be there when he arrived with it, but when I do head for Tyndrum I usually go by Loch Tay and Lix Toll to avoid the police traps which are frequently at St Fillans and Lochearnhead.
Glad you all had a good day apart from Chiz.
