Andy Munday down

Don't suppose Andy's partner Penny will mind me reporting to those asking for him that tonight he is still in intensive care and his condition is stable.

Further update - Andys condition is now reported as stable currently having a chest infection which has meant his retention in Intensive Care however it is hoped he can be released into the ward in the next day or two once the tubes have been removed.

Beyond that he has sustained a broken pelvis in three places , a broken femur , six broken ribs and a badly damaged elbow.

Apparently he was hit by a car towing a boat endeavouring to do a U turn in the road near Dunbarton and had absolutely nowhere to go to avoid the imact.

Further Update - Andy has had a slight relapse in so far as his chest infection has spread to both lungs. They have had to sedate him as they endeavour to get on top of it and he remains in intensive care.

Although I know Andy fairly well , the information is being received from Penny through a close mutual friend and have asked that the best wishes and thoughts of all on the site are conveyed to Andy when convenient to do so.

If its OK to so do I will update as and when I hear anything to report.
 
Further update - better news as of yesterday , Sunday. Andy was breathing through a tee piece for 4 hrs unaided so they have taken his tube out and although breathing with the aid of a mask he is off the ventilator.

Hopefully things are now getting better , it was Penny's birthday yesterday and claims it was the best bithday present shes ever had.
 
Never met Andy but the fingers are well and truly crossed for him.

Hey guys Penny here. I was told about this thread by someone and can't tell you how touched both Andy and I are by all your kind wishes and concern.

Andy is doing much better now. He seems to have shaken off all the usual hospital bugs and infections and is definitely on the long road to recovery. He has been up and walking with the aid of a frame and is due to have his pelvic stabilisers out next week. They are even talking about him coming home the week after which would be fab!!

Boredom is now setting in - so he must be feeling better. He has a phone by his bed so if anyone would like the number please feel free to contact me - I don't really want to post it here for obvious reasons.

Thanks for updating us with Andy's progress, Penny.

We'll be keeping everything crossed that he can make a full and speedy recovery, and I hope it's not too long before we see him again.

this is fantastic, you might remember I bought Andy's Raleigh Chopper, happy to bring that in so he can zoom around the ward :D :D :D

Weekend

Andy now metal and pipe free :) Had shower for first time in 6 weeks on Sat. Just needs to prove he can do crutches and then I think they'll let him home. Has his own mobile with him if anyone wants to give him abuse!!!

Excellent news, at last it is good to read he is on the way home, those first few steps on crutches painful but rewarding and the first shower is just heaven :)
 
In at Ducati Glasgow on Saturday, guess who hobbles in - none other than Andy. Back up, on crutches, but looking remarkably well. Glad to see you up and about Andy. Penny was shopping, so Andy popped in for some light Ducati relief...;) :D
