Advice on DS1000 Multistrada

I'm thinking of buying a 2004 model, looks OK but I need to it to go through the winter. I've read about greasing electrical contections, display, ecu, rectifier etc but does nayone have experience of running one over a winter?

Any advice appreciated!

I've got the guts of a 2004 MTS1000 motor all over the bench at the moment. They look pristine but the exhaust valve guides were totally gubbed. Don't know the mileage but from the condition of the side cases I would say reasonably high.

Early Multis with the 1000DS engine are known for premature valve guide failure.
