998s baylis - lights?

My mate has just bought a baylis rep, when he turns the lights on, both of them come on, low and high beam.
Does anyone know anything about this, I thought on the 916 shaped bikes one light was dipped and one was full??
Can anyone shed some light on the situation?
Cheers

Sounds like the previous owner rigged both to come on as they are notoriously poor, dunno what the fix is it'll be something simple it could even be the switch gear playing up???

I know there isn't a haynes manual for the 998 but the lighting section etc of the 916/996 manual should be the same being the same headlight

There was/is a "conversion" available to have both lights on dip on the 748/916/99* series.

Stops the locals hollering "oi mister one of yer lights is bust"

I vauguely recall there was some regs down under that meant if you have two headlamps that had to come on together.

Maybe someone thought yer Bayliss ought to be in Aussie spec? or maybe just a leccy fault

Ray.
