998R £5k 2002

Hi I contacted the seller and got these details,

Maybe someone can check them please as i'd definately go for it..

>1.The chassis number: ZDMH200AA2B019621
>2.The engine number: ZDM999W4-000191
>3 reg nr: LG 02 HRD

The picture that I rec'd shows that the 998r yoke no is 175 of 700. Is this right??

FFS, why is it a scam for sure - e-mail the guy, get the reg HPI it, go see it whatever - give 'em a chance though.

I know e-bay is full of it, however just because he has only just registered does not mean that the item is a duffer, you can safeguard yourself very easily, if when the questions are asked he won't play ball then fair enough, give it a chance though.

Call Ducati UK, they should be able to confirm the detail, as I am sure a dealer would, it will all be on the Ducati system I would say.

because its worth Double that.

he'll be wanting payed on his term's.

he'd be giving it away & Ebay is in the papers constantly with people losing thousands of pounds in scams.

So ask the fecking questions then, if you like the answers check those answers out, or just pay the price the market believes you should pay - perhaps, just perhaps someone is going to get a bargain from a genuine seller that people are slagging off because they have not done the research.
Every seller on e-bay has to start somewhere.

It may yet be a duffer. who knows, samieb has gone about it the right way.

Fair play, might just be wanting a quick sale then, but if the reserve wasnt met at 7K then surely he knows how much it is worth.

I'll see what Ducati UK have to say about it in the morning and I'll post the details up here so everyone can see them. Maybe Ian was a little serious, but he has a point £5k is alot of anyones pound whatever type of Duke its for.. As its an 998R it needs to be checked out before any of us think about buying though especially as normal R's are around the £10k bracket etc..

I'll post the details as soon as I can guys & girls, leave the handbags at dawn's please!!!

Oh Paul748 you aint the only 1 whose tempted either......

The picture of the first one has had some additional bling put on since it first went up for sale, clutch cover number plate holder heel guards etc. there are any number of reasons why it is up for sale and just because it's a low price dosn't mean it's a scam! I would HPI it, if you phone Martin at DG he might do it for you at cost instead of the rip-off at MCN. Costs less than a tenner when I get my local friendly dealer to do it for me! Get his land line number and phone him on that rather than cell phone. Talk to him and ask lots of questions and you will soon get a feeling if it's hookey or not. If he wants COC take someone with you as there is a trend for being bumped on the head at a meeting place. Good luck, tho there is the saying 'If it's too good to be true.............................'

Hi

I'm under the impression from some of the comments, that this bike might have a hidden history??

Of say a potential CAT C or D write off perhaps???

One thing that makes me a bit sus is that on some listings there is about ten minutes reading of the history of every nut and bolt and on this one there is, well not a lot!

yea, to me, someone that owns a 998r is aosmeone who LOVES ducati's, knows exactly what theyre buying, spends anal amounts of time cleaning it, looking after it, preserving it, now if that was mine id have 10 pages of its history etc etc & how much it means to me yaddy yaddy, like you say steve, theres none.
