sorry for my noobness lol but i knw's ya's are setting off from glencoe but where dose the flypass go exactly lol applecross way? ^.^ since this is my first year with the club id like to try and get to this one hehe.

It'd be great if you came on the Masher. At this point the route is a jealously-guarded, err, ...decision still to be made :rolleyes: but will be one of Scotland's finest.

Do you not fancy coming down to stay with us in Glencoe for the weekend ?.
 
ahhhh no i dident mean that id be happy to ride down to glencoe just to start the run just i dident know if there was a set route or anything. but yeah count me in hehe *starts packing*

Food for thought

Can all Masheristis please check their PMs please ?. Regarding the food arrangements I've sent everyone a PM asking for feedback.
 
Following the surging demand for the Masher, with the bunkhouse and hostel completely full and with a reserve list for accommodation, we have now also booked one of the caravans on the same site and have filled it too. The owners normally only let them out for a minimum of a week but have allowed us to book them for a weekend since we are virtually taking over the site anyway. There are a couple more caravans available as I write ( http://www.glencoehostel.co.uk/caravans.asp ) . These are comfy and modern, with a double and a twin room each, costing £36 pp for the weekend, so if anyone has not yet put their name down for the Masher and wants accommodation please pm me as soon as possible and I will arrange it.

We are now up to 47 participants, which is getting close to the limit for restaurant booking on Saturday night (more on that later). And there should be a hell of a thunder on the Saturday morning in Glencoe ..:D
 
Munching merrily at the Midgie Masher

One of the important pieces in planning the Masher weekend is to find us somewhere to eat on the Saturday night after a hard day mashing midgies around the Highlands. All this high-velocity fly-swatting is hungry work, for sure, and there will no doubt be tales to tell of the day we’ve had. Despite there being a recession on, it was a minor challenge to get somewhere to take us.

Please ignore my previous emails on the subject asking for menu preferences as that option went by the wayside – the restaurant in question did not seem to keen to have our business and so we had to look elsewhere. However, we have now arranged dinner at a local hotel in a nice location just a few miles away, with a bus laid on to get us there and back, so we can park up the bikes for the night and not worry about drinking (as I’m sure we will..). The restaurant will provide a three-course meal (sorry for those who voted for a two-course option but I went with the majority three-course choice) with a vegetarian option and say they will put on a Scottish/Italian theme to the menu. The cost of the meal plus bus transport is £20 per person, which we think is good value. If anyone has any special dietary requirements other than vegetarian please pm me and I will speak to the hotel.

I am assuming that everyone will want to join us for dinner, which should be a really enjoyable occasion to munch and mix with fellow Ducatisti clan members. However, if you prefer NOT to come to the dinner but to make your own arrangements please pm me as soon as possible so I can adjust the numbers with the hotel.

On returning from the hotel to the hostel we can resume beer, banter and merriment mode until the wee sma’ hours. Remember we will have a barrel of Seant’s finest real ale to demolish – that could well be another Glencoe Massacre !

Finally, now that we have finalised this detail can I ask you to settle up with me, please, for the £20 cost of the dinner/bus plus your accommodation (if you have not paid already) ie £26 for the hostel, £20 for the bunkhouse and £36 for the caravan ?. I have shown the accommodation list earlier in this thread (see a few above ). If you will see me at the monthly socials or runs in the next month or so then you can settle up then, otherwise pm me and I will give you my address to send a cheque.

If you have any queries on anything please pm me.

Masher monies

I know we are still a few months ahead of the event but, since SDC is now committed to paying for the accommodation and dinner can I ask those of you who have not yet paid me to settle up for the cost of your accommodation and dinner please ?. I know some of you are out of the country, etc and will get in touch when back in the UK but can the rest of you either pay me at the SDC runs or socials or, failing that, send me a pm and I can tell you my address for sending a cheque ?.

Can I make an apology please to the SDC members, at the AGM I volunteered to help out with the organisation of the masher, along with Derek, Borderduc and Geoff. I then proceeded to do knack all due to the pressures of work.

These three guys have been working very hard behind the scenes to make sure it will be a superb event again... well done guys and sorry for leaving you to it.

Still think a timed route map is a good idea and we'll of course print and laminate these free for all participating DUCATI owners, if you have a rice burner they're £5 + VAT + Delivery + Artwork + Yen conversion charge.

Can we work on getting the route done with approx meeting / stopping times ???? It takes a lot of the "must catch up" pressure off riders.
 
Indeed. Davie said he'd phone me some cash but when I switched on my mobile I couldn't get a penny out of it.. :dunno::scratchhead::rolleyes:

Accommodation update - place available

Following a re-shuffle we have now freed up a ladies place in the hostel, so any any ladies wanting a place who haven't booked already now's your chance. Just send me a pm.

Also, don't forget to pay me when you get a chance. The outstanding total I need to collect is over £1600 so please make a note.
 
Keep that cash rolling in now, folks. The Mashcashometer shows a reading of £1100 still not paid ......

We have one space left in the ladies' section of the Masher accommodation (hostel).

All requests from male members will be respectfully considered :twak: and kicked into touch but if we have another lady who'd like to come along for the UK Ducati event of the year please send me a pm.
 
Mash cash

Looking at the Mashcashometer, thanks to everyone who has settled up so far but the dial is still showing £975 short. We've still got a while to go before the event but once I have your accommodation and dinner payment that serves as positive confirmation that you will be joining us so sorry to nag but can you all please settle up asap ?. If you are not sure about the amount have a look at the participants list above or send me a pm. In some cases people have paid for accommodation but not the £20 dinner/bus bit. Again, if you can't remember what you have paid just send me a pm and I will check the Desmoledgers...:typing:
 
well if that's the case :eek: DB I think you should be offering the unpaid places to those on your waiting list :stir: no excuse for it, not as if it's The Ritz is it? :rolleyes:

:rolleyes: Hmm. Maybe the last people to pay should end up allocated to spaces in the shed round the back with the Desmowhippet. :D Yes indeed. Our club mascot will be on parade for the weekend. Mary's even getting it a club T-shirt.
 
And talking of T-shirts, who thinks it would be a good idea to run off some T-shirts for "SDC Midgie Masher Flypast Glencoe 2009" or similar ?.

If enough people are interested we could look at doing that.
