Baby Face's GPZ900R?
A 2-stroke Ninja with a 750SS engine swapped in 😆
Even though the diamond frame offers a lot of freedom for engine swaps, this one's a real challenge 😅
It showed up as a special entry in the Roots The Races Ninja One-Make Race, right?
I think it had trouble at the start and retired 🤔

The original owner put this up on another forum:-

"This summer it is 40 years ago I set my GT550 for sale.

The potential buyer took it for a ride.

I learned a lesson that day - so did he.

He hit a lamp post, going over 100 km/h and killed himself.

Sad sad day"

I had a 750 Norton Commando, traded it for a GT550, the guy who bought my old Norton hit a lamp post and was decapitated :(

Similar thing happened to me when I sold my 906 back in the mid 90s. Bloke paid cash and rode it away. Couple of weeks later the police turned up at work and asked me to confirm I was the previous owner of the bike and had I sold it legitimately and who to with a description. Trying to eliminate theft I assumed. Turned out someone had been riding it, crashed and was killed. It seemed it was being ridden two up and they suspected that the person killed had been at the controls and he didn't have a license. No come back for me but it was a strange feeling knowing that had happened on a bije I'd sold. Especially as it was sold without an MOT. Buyer knew this and said he would collect it with a trailer. He didn't. He turned up with cash on another bike with a very young pillion who rode that bike home while the buyer rode the Ducati. It seems the pair of them had a history of riding illegally.

My first crash was on a GT 380. I was 15 and a pillion, my mate wad riding and we were on our way to the pub...
It wad dark and he got his front wheel in rut on the edge of the tarmac. Lost the front end and we went spinning down the road in a trail of sparks. He was thrown clear but I had my feet caught in the crash bars.
