I cant believe these bikes cost more than a well kitted R1M

Sounds plausible when you consider FS1E's are being advertised at £6500. Compared with that, 13K for an Elsie seems like a bargain.

The Yamaha Fizzy – how a 1970s moped became a £10,000 collector’s item

One Fizzy from 1976, which would have cost around £300 new, sold last October for £10,350 (including fees) in an auction run by Cheshire-based auction house H&H Classics at the National Motorcycle Museum in the West Midlands.

Mennal...

If you can find a few for 6K you could add some useful investments to your collection Exie. You could fit two or three behind your sofa.

My collection only has stunning looking bikes in it so deffo not - and there is no room behind either of my sofa's after rearranging the house :( but the bikes still have their own room :)

Hope you had a lovely Birthday btw 🥳(y)

Middle aged men of my generation who were teenagers in '80's and now have more money than sense (not an affliction I suffer, having none of either) are volunteering to be fleeced so they can relive their youth and they're forcing prices of iconic RD's through the roof.

I loved the air-cooled Yam smokers but if I was buying a vintage stroker now I'd get a Suzuki GT 500 or a T500. A fraction of the price and just as good. In fact, engineering wise, they were more solid. The T500 is an inder-appreciated gem and I'm determined to get my hands on one when I can prioritise the 50 other biking things I'm also determined spend what's left on my money on..
