i made my annual trip down to my place of birth (yam yam country) to look at all the sparly new bikes at the show. lots of nice toys to play with. the street fighter is ok. not my type of bike, but it will look great with termis and loads of aftermkt carbon bits on it (which ducati will make a catalogue full of no doubt).
what caught my magpie eye was the bayliss rep. DG was shut as it was a Monday but the nice salesman on the stand rang Martin's mobile for me (i think we got him out of bed). So that'll be another new toy to try and justify to the missus on 1 March '09. in the current climate i thought i must be the only nutter out there buying one, but apparently they've sold 25 of the 35 or so coming to the UK.
so if your passing DG in Feb u'll see a very clean 08 plate 1098R with 700 miles on it and 70mm termis on sale for probably about 25% of what i paid for it 6 months ago. there's nothing like a fool and his cash, even in a recession, eh? (that's me by the way......)
still, at least it'll be an excuse to buy the 09 corse one piece leathers, matching goves and boots and probably a flashy new helmet to go with it. in for a penny, in for a pund.
By the way i thought the Honda Fireblade in HRC livery and Repsol livery were both great lookers. The '09 R1 is a munter. The 09 Gixxer is undistinguishable from the 07 and 08 models to my eye. The KTM RC8R is a dolly mixture of colours. I wasn't tempted enough to change my 08 RC8, although hopefully they've fixed the gearbox now. maybe next year. the big disappointment for we was the "no show" from Aprillia. I was desperate to look at their new V4 thou. They probably missed at least one sale by not being there.
