Just visiting
My 1098 is the worst bike I have ever had for petrol consumption.

The most I have ever had with a full tank is 90 iles until the fuel light then another 20 before it ran out.

Today I had a full to the brim tank, done 77 miles and the light came on in Rothbury with no petrol station anywhere nearby. Just got to morpeth for fuel as it was spluttering, 100 miles on a full tank !!!

Funny thing is it only took 13.4 litres to fill up and it is a 15.5 litre tank, so where is the other 2 litres ?

So 100 miles on 13.4 litres, What mpg is that anyone ????

i can see a new use for the norge, I'll get myself a bike to bike refuelling sysyem like the ones planes have :) hmm 23 litre tank and i've managed 230 miles and still only got less than 20 litres in, plenty there to use to refuel a 1098 :)

Yeh mines same i get about 110 on a full tank! getting in my leathers is soon going to be a problem as stopping to fill up i keep topping up on snacks lol

Nice to meet you at Hartside, your 1098 looks very nice :) 110-130 on the 999.

First ride out yesterday on my Tricolore & the light came on at about 83 miles - did another 9 miles before brimming it with exactly 11 litres. Today I managed 100 miles & no fuel light before brimming it again & this time it took 9.61 litres.
I knew it wouldn't be fantastic but maybe after it's run in things will get better (fingers crossed).

Gary

You lot are lucky on my Tricolore, it only gets 85 miles out of a full tank if I'm gentle with the 50mm system and chip....

You'll need a satnav to get you to the nearest petrol station on a 1098:eek: MPG on the 748 was 135 miles to the light, average range 150-160 miles:) strangely the monster is about the same:confused:

Haha very funny, I've usually checked out where all the petrol stations are on my route before a rideout...

Yep, me too, ran out 3 times also.

If the bike was due to run out, spluttering as I pulled into the garage and it took 13.4 lires to fill the tank, where is the other 2 litres or does that lie in the bottom of the tank unusable as it cannot reach the pump ?????

Hey,
what do you guys want touring bikes or sports bikes? surely you ain't buying these things thinking of their fuel comsumption - who gives a ....? ;)
I can beat that, I've got an 8.5ltr tank and can just about cover 90 then I'm running on fumes, less on the track (alot). ...do I look bovered?

I don't know about you, but I'm just about ready to get off after 100 miles anyway, if not to refuel but to admire my bike - again!!! :p

...I better go to bed now:o

mpg

Hi,
I have a Tricolore and have covered 3500 miles. As yet I haven't put the termis on - so my mpg is based on standard setup. Commuting I get around 80 miles till fuel light ON. Went for a run to Ullapool and back last Thursday and got around 100 to 110 miles to fuel light ON. Once past Fort William and away from static/mobile camera's I wasn't hanging around so the 100 is based on quite high average speeds. It was great fun!

you're all bloody lucky standard 999 no termi 75 miles per tank usually two up but can't blame her she only weighs 8 stone had the bike checked out no faults found but what i have noticed is the more you get used to the bike the more it sups i like to have a winge about this but the fun i get ringing her neck (bike not paulines) the more i think sup what you want you're worth it :D :D :D

Wow, you might want to think about getting it checked again. On a long (all motorway) steady run at 80/90 mph I've done 127 miles on 11.02 litres (full to yellow light coming on and staying on). This would translate to around 170 miles per tankful.

The consumption does go up dramatically on A and B roads when I'm pushing hard, running up and down through the gears all the time as you would expect. It also goes up, though not so much, when I drive around town. Still, since it was run in, mine has never done less than 95 miles from full to yellow light.

It was rubbish before the first service but that was because the throttle bodies were miles out of sync.

My 998 (termis & chip) does 120 to fuel light, then another 15-20 no matter how she's ridden, so 75 from a bike with essentially the same engine seems wrong (I know you ride 2 up, but i'm er.."well built"!). I'd have it checked.

As to the 1098's mileage, I was on a rideout with Martyn748 on Sunday & there was a lad with a Tricolore, and he had to fill up at every petrol station stop, whilst most of us were only topping up.

But if you're squeezing 160bhp out of an 1100 twin, there's a price to pay either in reliability or fuel consumption. Let's hope it's just in fuel consumption.

If your all moaning about the crap MPG on a 1098, then may I suggest you get something else or simply just put up and shut up about it. I for 1 am ok with it, if I was worried about the MPG I wouldn't have bought 1......

Well......Ive ran out off fuel 3  times this year.

Is it a.............Record Breaker!? :D
trying to get out of paying for it davie means that you run out now and then. I get 150 + miles from the 916 fast or slow, makes no difference, so I'll just keep it

Fast or slow? I dunno if there is that much difference in fuel consumption between 30 and 40 mph !!! :p

I get between 75-100 miles before fuel light comes on,depending on how i ride.Thats on a standard 999 (no termi :( )

I've done 20+ miles with fuel warning light on,in the middle of N.Yorks on a bank holiday evening..... Scary

I'll remember that one davie - I,ve never followed you on a run but you,ve followed me a few times. I dont think I'll pay you that packet of fags back now either.
