Went on a group ride today...pissed off some dude cause I passed him, he was ruining all the fun curves and I had enough having to apply brake like a bitch at every turn, he's one of them straight line heroes. Those of you who know me know a) I'm a chill dude, b) I'm a relatively safe rider, not a risk taker. Apparently I follow too close and I put people in danger. I was just trying to enjoy my ride and keep up with the two leads in front of him setting the pace. I was postion 4.

Low energy, low intelligence, he didn't need to threaten me with violence over a perfectly executed pass on a fun twisty road. I managed to de-escalate, words are just words and my ego's in check, else I'da put round through his forehead.

He ended up leaving a few stops later, I lead the rest of the ride soon after, and everyone had a great time. Know your skill level and ride accordingly.

The thing i have said in the past to my son is not to ride out of your comfort zone. The good news is my son has sold his bikes now he's a father, sounds selfish on my part but riding in Southampton is dangerous as driving standards are beyond a joke. The three crashes i've had while on here just to make thing's clear and talking dangerous were not my fault. 🤷‍♂️
Glad you had a good ride out minus the novice.:ROFLMAO:

Did he have an Australian accent

I avoid groups ride altogether now. Went out with a couple of mates a few weeks ago. One of them is an ex-police rider who doesn't ride mental fast but does know exactly what he's doing. The other was a novice who only took his bike test when he inherited a little Honda CB500 twin from his dad. He didn't have either the horsepower or the experience to rip it up so we just rode at his pace and as he insisted on riding at the back as he doesn't like having anyone behind him, we made a point of maintaining perfect road positioning to set him an example and help him develop his skills.
Forcing yourself to slow down and concentrate on riding smooth and getting every turn just right actually made for quite an enjoyable ride and it wasn't that slow as our novice mate grew in confidence through the day.

We've had unsafe riders on our group rides. The word soon gets about and they become persona non grata. They don't get invited or turn up for the next ride.

You’ll remember John from the Ireland trip - slow John - we soon realised the best thing to do with a slow rider, is let them get on with it and they’ll catch up when we stop.

The worst thing he’d do is overtaking - you couldn’t follow him past anything because he isn’t aware you’re going with him and space accordingly. He’d start slowing before making the pass, leaving you hanging you out to dry.

So leave him at the back and we’ll see you later!

Today for the first time i managed to go down to the garage to assess the damage to the HD. The clutch lever is toast, ordered a new one, the derbi cover is scratched up but no problem i'll give it a wet and dry treatment and respray:) and it will be a free fix.;) The only thing that i am a bit pissed off about is the left side of the handle bar it bent by about 1cm, no surprise as it took most of the impact. I'm not going to replace as of yet as i think i will be able to bend them back with some persuasion and a hammer:ROFLMAO: i need to get a bigger one as mine aint big enough.🔨
Fitted my new gear selector knob as mine came off in the spill and fitted the new fork brace, to be honest i think apart from the bars it's not that bad.🤷‍♂️

Today i have been in the garage, i've taken the derbi cover off and wet and dryed it and gave it two coats of paint(for now). I blue thread locked the bolts on the new fork brace, i then fitted a new number plate as the other one was broken in half.
Then i took the clutch lever off as it's fucked and waiting for a new one to be fitted sooner rather than later.:)

How’s your ankle?

Getting better, i'm meant to be wearing one of those boots but fucked it off and got my trainer on it very loose. My foot was realy stiff but it was painful bending it again as the tendons where starting to sieze. I can walk better on it and working in the garage helps.
Hoping to do Donington Sunday for WSBK so five days of getting the thing sorted out, it should be good.🤞

Better to keep it mobile 👍

Today i went down to the garage and and took the air filter off as fuck knows when it was last cleaned. It's a K&N, gave it a load of muc off and left it to soak for a bit then rinsed it off and fuck me the amount of shit that came off was off the scale. It's now drying on the windowsill, i cleaned up the clutch lever bay as it was fucked up so sorted it with a file. Another thing i noticed is the rear head exhaust collet was loose, it's something i keep an eye on as it once came off completely so sorted with my nuts and bolts and other weird stuff tin.:) I couldn't be bothered to give the derbi cover another two coats of paint, it's windy and blowing stuff into the garage so refitted that and it looks the bollox.(y)

If the air filter was full of shit, when was the last time the oil was changed?

It had a full service when i got it, fresh oil in primary and engine, new plugs and a brand new battery, the battery alone was 180 quid. The oil when i had a look is lovely and fresh and oil levels are bang on, they are a part of the Crescent group and they don't fuck about, the reason i got it. Crescent Suzuki was in Verwood but are now based in Italy and run the yamaha WSBK team under Paul Denning. Crescent are part of the Verwood branch as they where a Suzuki dealership and ran the Motogp team back in the day, they now sell differant makes of bike, they also are a part of the branch in Lowford.
