Citizen Vigilante (2025)

Well this one escaped from the reservation. It was like a combination of a Death Wish fantasy and a fact-based documentary. I tried tallying-up the activities of the lead character during the film and established "Dint Do Nuffin Wrong" as a conclusion. Maybe one questionable act... hmm... probably.

I was so surprised that the lead was played by an established actor, Armie Hammer, that I actually had to do research on it afterwards.

My findings:
  • Armie Hammer is under a cloud after revelations about his private life (I am entirely sceptical about that but at least they cancelled Hammer non-lethally, unlike Anne Heche). This film is his "comeback" after being dumped by Hollywood, his agent and the rest of the communists in the mainstream film industry.
  • Uwe Boll (writer, director, producer) is considered somewhat of a provocateur in the industry. I came away thinking this just might be true.
  • The film was made in Croatia which is one of only a handful of places I can think of where it *could* be made.
This was a confusing trip, in the meta. It clocked politically incorrect so hard that it might have cycled around again. I constantly looked for signs that we were supposed to root against "the hero" and enjoy his comeuppance...

There is talk of a "Citizen Vigilante 2" for 2027 - I'm looking forward to it.

"I do these things for you until you learn to do them for yourselves."

I'm almost expecting a practical instruction manual as a sequel.

Edit: I wonder what Boll would have done with the script of Law Abiding Citizen (disclaimer - I don't wonder at all, I know).
I was so please with Law Abiding Citizen all the way up to the end when the bad guy won and the good guy lost. Then I felt gutted, disgusted and betrayed. If I re-watch that film, I stop before the end.
I thought it was so-so.
The bit with the metal box was bad, but stopping mid root to tell a hooker there’s mold on the walls sort of made up for it.

I watched the Masters of the Universe remake last night, far better than I expected and didn’t take itself at all seriously. There are some killer double entendres in it which will go above kids heads but had me laughing.
Recommended for a mid week chuckle.

3rd season of House of the Dragon. Good story, different from GoT in a good way. I wish they'd just put all episodes out instead of weekly.

Also decent, the follow on to Handmaids Tale, The Testaments. Different from the story that started it in it's own good way.

Now they need to make a similar either continuation or prequel to Foundation.

Oh, also watched S4, the Bob Lazar story. Depends what you know about it forehand or if you're into this topic whether or not it's worth the watch/rental.

I will say, of all the stories related to this topic, Bob's perspective and account is truly one of a kind and consistent which adds credibilty to the subject.

Blade Runner BBC2 10pm. Suck it up Loz.
I couldn't watch it because it's the voice over version, watched 5 mins and changed channel. I had limited editon Blade Runner box set with the three versions and various other stuff, the full directors version is the one to watch. Sadly i no longer have it due to the split with the ex. 🤷‍♂️

I recorded it but probably won’t bother watching it then as I’ve seen it numerous times before.

I just can't handle the voiceover one it does my head in, most fans would say the same. I watched Blade Runner 2049 the other day on Amazon prime, i saw it at the cinema when it came out and had mixed feelings about it but seeing it again it is actualy a fucking good movie.:)
