What the feck have you done today?

I will be taking vit D supplements this winter, starting when the clocks go back and stopping when they go forward. The last few winters I've been constantly ill catching everything going, depressed and lacking energy. Some days I spend half my time at work sitting in the truck feeling completely wiped out. This winter just gone was particularly bad. It cannot be a coincidence that is was also one of the darkest and wettest on record with no sun at all up here for over two months.
I realised I was severely Vit D difficient in March when bright sunlight made an appearance after months of semi-darkness and I instantly felt tons better, like I'd been magically cured of some disease.

That'll be the only sups I take.

"Inside nearly every cell in your body are tiny organelles called mitochondria, often dubbed the "powerhouses of the cell."

"

How to Use Sunlight for Better Energy

  1. Morning Sun
    • 10-30 minutes of early sunlight (without windows or sunglasses blocking rays) helps regulate circadian rhythms and mitochondrial function (Rüger et al., 2013).
  2. Combine Sunlight with Grounding
    • Walking barefoot on natural surfaces (grass, sand) while absorbing sunlight may enhance mitochondrial electron flow (Oschman et al., 2015).
  3. Prioritize Red/NIR-Rich Light
    • Early morning and late afternoon sunlight contains more red and near-infrared light, which is particularly beneficial for mitochondrial function (Hamblin, 2016)."

And don’t wear sunglasses all the time you’re out in the sun - you take in a lot of vit d through the eyes.
And if you don’t eat carbs, you won’t burn - no need for sun cream (except for the gingers)

Had to return from Bournemouth today via SW Trains to Waterloo, then Tube to Kings Cross, then the knackered noisy hot Grand Central Express to Brighouse - Set off at 7-06am and arrived Brighouse at 2-00pm.

Best thing was a Transport Police Ticket Check on the SW Train at Woking where a black lad sat in the seats in front of me, and produced a Child's Ticket.

"How old are ?" asked the Officer

"15"

"You look older than 15 to me - have you got any ID ?"

"Driving Licence ?"

"So how old are you really ?"

"21"

Can they not break your stones with ultra sound?
That's what I thought. Thankfully he was able to pull it out. What a weird experience. Went in, next thing I know I'm waking up and they're getting me the fuk out of there. 2 hrs later (3pm EST). I don't recall ever getting out of a hospital faster. Had some great nurses cute and super nice. Same with the anesthesiologist. We are lucky to have an awesome hospital here in Frederick Md.

Apparently I suffer from Randall's something or other disease, my kidneys love making stones which is kinda news to me. Gotta stop with the juices and drink tons more water on the regular.

I feel good, had a great post OP meal at our local restaurant and I'm home now. The doc installed a new stent, not sure what happens next with that.

Thank you everyone for your kind words and thoughts y'all are the best.

Also your body's ability to produce vitamin D from sunlight and your diet diminishes as you age. So yes, you probably do need more sunlight/Vit D-rich foods/sups than you used to.

For any of you wondering...Imagine a cramp on the side of your gut, similar to cramps from running. Don't hurt much at first and your thinking "it'll pass". And it might for a bit. Then in comes back, except this time is surpasses that crampy feeling and just gets stronger, and stronger until you double over and wonder if you're dying. You may find some relief laying down this way or that but it barely subsides. It may go away for a few minutes then repeat. Or in my case this past time it just wouldn't go away til they shot me up with sedatives.

What you're feeling is the backpressure of your urine on your kidney because a stone's blocked your ureter or urethra (the pipe that carries urine to your bladder).

I don't get thar carb water, there's a weird flavor to it. Most water tastes weird to me, slightly acidic, or bitter. I've found adding salt (we use some fancy salt) makes it palatable to me.
I find that. I think it's because your taste buds associate carbonation with sweet or pungent tastes like fizzy pop or beer. When that's missing it tastes very odd. You get used to it but introducing natural aromatics from herbs gives your taste buds something to get hold of.

Lemon verbena is amazing stuff. Every garden should have a big clump of it. I used to grow it as a perennial down south but up here it needs to be treated as a annual as it usually doesn't survive the winter. It smells and tastes like old fashioned sherbet lemon sweets but without a trace of sugar. It's also a powerful anti-inflammatory and can be drunk hot as an alternative to tasteless green tea as it has the same free-radical fighting powers.
Helps to keep cats out of your garden too as they don't like citrus smells.

I like to freeze mine into little blocks and flavour it with dark spiced rum and dry ginger ale. Makes the grandchildren act weird tho!
I might try that. I have a massive planter full of garden mint, apple and chocolate mint. And it really does tastes of chocolate...

Renal colic…reported to be the most severe pain known to mankind (honest)…other than a right good boot in the bollocks…😁

I remember as a new boy in senior school upsetting a sixth form girl. As I turned away, she launched a hefty kick at me but she was wearing winklepicker shoes. She got me right on the starfish and I swear blind, it felt like she nearly punctured my lungs.

I never dated or upset a girl wearing winklepickers ever again
