What have you done on your bike today?

Well, it's not as though you would use a hairdryer

Ffs noobs a spoiler would be handy!

The lean on this bike was bloody dangerous to the point you would think a gust of wind would topple it - all looked good with the parts and assembly so I swapped the standard side-stand for a snazzy new CNC machined 1098 one that I acquired with one of the 1098R’s 🙂 someone had made it but then realised it caught on the 1098R fairing as I found out when I tried to fit it a while back, no such issues on the 998 🙂

Should be a lot better as it’s longer but I’ve not checked it yet 👀

I put a 1098 one on the 748 and it sorted it right out. The 749 is on a shocking lean on its stand but as its a track bike I just put a piece of wood under it.
Not that I ever use the thing...

Cam cover is refitted now after the usual faff trying to keep the rubber gasket in place while you thread the cover into place !! Anyway, all done now & secured. I'll run it tomorrow & check for oil leaks & coolant leaks 🤞;)

I put a 1098 side stand on the 996 as the origanal bracket that holds the stand snapped. Good job i was holding on enough to stop the bike going over. I had too lean the bike against the wall on the throttle side with some rags to not damage anything. Got a 1098 stand with bracket on ebay and it fitted on a treat and the bike had no silly lean over like the standard one.:)

Does that rubber hose above the fan have 2 cuts in it

Took a trip down to SW Ducati Mecca (Louigi) to test a theory which turned out to be a solid punt. Wondered if i could apply the same fix to the Hyper Sprag bearing fix that i did a few years back (which Rich suggested and subsequently helped with. Essentially a nitrile rubber band from the top end of a 996 that happens to fit the sprag of the hyper and now the SXV....the spring stretches, and ironically after knackering my "heavy duty" sprag which ended up not being very heavy duty after a number of non starts it failed, when i took it out to replace it the spring had also stretched....so did did the job perfectly. Rich gave me a spare so when ive got some time ill pop the cover off the $XV and upgrade the spring to the nitrile band....result. Plus some porn from Rich's place...

I left Hitchin early this morning, taking great delight in knowing I must have woken on particularly unpleasant neighbour. I filled up in Luton. I was making good progress til I got to Heathrow on the M25 when out of the blue the dash lit up like a Christmas tree. The engine warning light came on along with orange flashing lights on either side DWC showed an error a warning triangle lit up and the abs light the cruise control wouldn't work.
I pulled over and turned it off and the turned it on again and it appeared OK so I rode off slowly (yes I can when I try) and it all went tits up again. I limped on very cautiously until I reached Fleet services where I pulled in to investigate, I had a hunch and thankfully I was correct

The battery terminal had come loose, after tightening it with a pair of pliers all was well except the engine management light was still on. I rode down to Snells who were just opening when I got there, they directed me to the coffee machine whilst they rolled the bike into the workshop deleted all the errors etc. and sent me on my way gratis. What a great bunch! When I got home (with the fuel light on,😎 (it was a good ride)) I phoned them and booked in for my third Desmo service.
