What have you done on your bike today?

Yesterday: Fitted a Domino throttle to the z1000 - last week i fitted the identical part to the hyper, post r1 throttle mod catastrophic fail....
Hyper: Smooth and light, but strangely little/no different to throttle twist reduction.
Zed: Heaver [as its using both cables] and smooth but, crucially, id hazzard a guess as a 40% twist reduction...and its the same fucking part....so both really good in their own ways....

Summary: even though theyre both totally different in performance characteristics...im pleased with both.

Got one on order for the RSV4...not a clue on how that turns out!! anything could happen...
 
Today i put a brand new rear tyre on the Enfield and after some swearing putting tools down that disappear i got it on!!:oops: I then went for a spin to scrub the tyre in, rude not too, what a difference that is.:) A tyre that isn't square, i'm gonna get one for the front at the end of the month.(y)

Took the Diavel down to BHP-UK in Burnley yesterday for a remap. Shit drive down there in awful weather. Very late getting home by the time I'd taken the hired trailer back to North Shields. Had a quick pint, fell asleep in the chair til dawn, took myself off to bed on waking as it didn't feel like I'd slept at all and now my body clock is shot to bits. It's 4 o' clock in the afternoon but my brain tells me it's about 10 am. Hopefully I'll have reset by tomorrow.

Got the dyno graphs but I'm not sure what the first one means. I assumed the blue line would be torque but it says power. 107 at the wheel seems unlikely (though if it is I'll take it, thank you very much). Maybe I'm reading it wrong. 148 rwbhp sounds about right as Ducati claim 165 at the crank with the Termi pipe. So it's gained about five horses from the remap. Not that it matters. It's the slumps and dips plumped out that will be felt by the seat-of-the-pants dyno.
He did show me the before and after torque curves on screen while I was there and it did have loads of dips and holes which he's smoothed out.
Also not shown here is the air/fuel mixture at various throttle openings. He showed me that on screen. It was awful. To meet emissions regs it was running horribly lean at quarter and half throttle between 4500 and 7500 rpm which is exactly where you ride most of the time, so he's added lots of fuel to the throttle ramp so you get what you've asked for. Haven't had a chance to ride it yet, maybe later, but it should feel significantly more responsive.
The top-end will feel more rabid as well because the power now keeps rising past 8k rpm whereas before it was flat-lining. Not that I ride right up there very much.
Looking forward to a test ride.

Today i went for a ride to Salisbury, i got myself a Greggs sausage roll and a drink. There was nowhere to sit so went back to he bike and sat on the wall. There was this monkey type bike parked up with a German number plate. I've just done some internetting and it's made by a company called Skyteam that are owned by China. Now there was two lids locked onto it and a German plate, so did they ride here from Germany.:unsure::ROFLMAO: Fair play if they did, it's also 50cc, i waited around for a bit to see if i could find out from the owner if they rode here on it but no joy so made my way back home. On the way back i headed for Loomies as it's the best way to Tesco and like an idiot i forgot that the Boomtown festival is on and started today so i got caught in the bloody traffic!!:rolleyes: It finishes on Sunday, i wonder how many will die at it this year, somebody usualy does, so from now till at least Tuesday i shall avoid like the plague.

It is a good tyre and handles well but sometimes it feels like i've got a flat tyre, other than that i like it a lot. I was going to get one for the front but on reflection i'm going for a different profile. I will stick with Mitas as they cover a wide range of spec, something a bit more road tyre me thinks than all terrain. It aint a sport bike but i like more feedback on the front!!:)

Got my first ride today after the remap on Tuesday. It's a different bike. Definitely faster. A lot more urge in the midrange and more ballistic up top. Far better throttle response too. No flat spots to ride through. Every degree of turn on the twist grip is felt immediately.
Biggest improvement is smoothness. I found myself in sixth gear unexpectedly several times. Previously I'd sort of looked at sixth as an overdrive gear. It needed at least 4500 rpm on the dial and preferably 5000 for sixth to be used comfortably. I noticed at one point I was tooling along very happily in sixth at 4000 so I decided to see how low it would go. It now pulls smoothly in sixth gear from 3000 rpm, and at 2000 in the lower gears. It's lost some of the brutish thuddery it had before but it now revs more freely, it's faster and just plain easier to ride, and ride faster.
Power comes in much harder from 5K and from smaller throttle openings. It's a vastly better bike now. It was good before but this has put the cherry on the cake. Was it worth £450? Yes. Every single penny. Thoroughly recommend BHP-UK at Burnley. He's done a damn good job. Looking forward to a good blast tomorrow. Very windy today.

Did you take it to them for a custom map onsite, or did you do it by post, please ?
 
Went for a ride over to Cerne Abbas as it was 15 years ago I met Martin for the first time on a UKMOC ride out - brilliant quiet roads across from Wilton to Stur, Durweston, Kings Stag etc. got there and parked up next to an old geezer on a GS and a youngish girl on a Kawasaki maybe? Anyway his first words were ‘Like Italian bikes do you - which one of yous a mechanic’. At this early stage I already wanted to deck him. Then he announces he’s an IAM instructor and ‘where do you live’. Salisbury way we say / his reply being ‘I expect there’s an iam club near you’. Thanks but no thanks I’ve been riding 45 years & used to instruct for DorsetCC. Had a couple lessons with the Rapid guys though. Then he starts on about riding safely before riding fast

What a dick. Anyhow the poor lass looked bored to tears but good on her for getting some training

Fab days riding and surprisingly quiet roads
 
Today i went for a nice evening spin on the Enfield after watching BSB on Qwest. Rode around West Meon after getting fuel then home, on the way back i rode past the Rose Bowl cricket ground and the whole Indian under 21 cricket team where waiting to get picked up.🏏
 
Today i woke up to another sunny day so went out for a spin, i just went out Salisbury way and the weather came over all odd and kept getting darker on the way home. I went to Tesco and it started spitting with rain and it got worse going home and it's now constant, nevermind it's looking better for tomorrow.:)
