Tips on the 'clue within the clue' too please.

Guardian cryptic for many years but not so much these days, although I did one last night in the pub after leaving the other thread. The reason I was in the pub was quite bizarre (Harper’s?), it was brought about by a pocketful of crushed Refreshers, at 10 o’clock in the morning, but that’s another story and this post may descend into a Perry like rambling if I don’t curtail it. Long story short, … it was shit.
Anyhoo, always the Guardian, Araucaria and Rufus were my favourites. Many years later, my wife's cousin got married to a chap that turned out to be the son of Roger Squires (Rufus), the worlds most prolific crossword setter, what an interesting chap (unlike his son who turned out to be a bit of a Twunt), after meeting him at their wedding, he sent me books of his crosswords with a lovely dedication on the inside pages. Lovely man, interesting stories, sadly he died last year. RIP.
His favourite crossword clue was :- Bar of soap (6,6)
