Wow that looks amazing! top quality job that. You might as well take the crankcase breather off and replace it with a K&N filter. It'll be a doddle at the moment and look better.

Cheers Steve :)

The crankcase breather has always been a big topic on the DML, and the general consensus is to strip back only as far as the black box. The number of guys who went the full hog and experienced oil p*ssing all over the back tyre is frightening

There are some who get round it by keeping the oil level right at the minimum level, but to be honest once the bike's all together the difference (visually) without the box and pipe is pretty minimal.

The paint finish looks second to none.....and if the rebuild continues to that standard it will be excellent well done mate..

I had a look at your other bike... that is a lovely looking bike as well.....

I hadn't realised that there were the probs you said with it. I put one on the 748 when I was in the 'buying bits for it' mood without any oil coming out, Suppose I just belived the blurb! Found one HERE

I think most of it comes out as a result of changing the Monster's gearing to 15T/43T

Saying that though, there were just as many people who said they'd had no problems.

Maybe riding with the front wheel in the air might make it more likely oil coming out of the filter and over the back

Excellent workmanship Niall. You must be happy with that. Do Brooklands only do frames or will they paint tanks etc.?

Thanks, but I guess I'm really just putting the bits together :p

Yep, Brooklands are also doing the tank and cowl...it's the white/red stripe design of the '07 S4RS, so it'll be a good test of their skills...we'll see ;)

Look forward to seeing how that turns out. I will be needing someone to do a frame/tank etc in the fairly near future and I would rather use one place to do everything.

Would that be a red stripe or a white stripe like mine then Niall?

That job looks MINT m8, you'll be well pleased with that finish, cant wait to see it. . . .

i really like the clutch & cover, swing arms looking good too.

It's gonna look the dogs danglies when it's finished! and so clean you won't want to risk getting it dirty by riding it

That paint work looks really magnificent Niall. If they do as good a job on the tank and other bits you're gonna have a cracker of a bike. Putting it all together without scratching the frame can be a challenge. Not so bad with a Ducati mind you where you can lower the frame onto the engine but it is stiil worth wrapping some cloth or other protection arond the frame tubes while you are bolting everything back together.
That clutch cover looks very minimalist - you'd better not take the bike to Ranald's MoT place :D

Oh and I remembered to look at the carb bits last night, I have 2 #40 pilot jets you can have.

Looks fantastic Niall. I had my frame powdercoated pretty much the same colour and was v.pleased with it, but the finish doesn't compare.

Haven't fitted the FCRs yet but am getting quite excited by the prospect. Let me know when you sell the Dynacoils.

Cheers,

Iain

niall, i can honestly say i never had any doubts what so ever with rae and the quality of his work, the mans a perfectionist of the best type. im really glad your happy with it, and it seams a few others on here like it too.
the only problems anybody will have if they get stuff painted by brooklands is that if you just get one panel done, it will make the rest of your bike look shabby. he really is that good;)

Looking GREAT Niall!!

Will it be ready for summer.......

Summer? I bloody well hope so! I want it totally finished and on the road for the 1st March :) In theory its easily possible, but I keep changing things as I'm building it. For example tomorrow I'm going to take the shock spring off and send it to Brooklands and get them to powder coat it the same colour as the frame...should have thought about that in the first place
