My empire of dirt...

Another big day yesterday. I blew out the roofing job for the day coz the fella pissed me off with his tude..
Anyhu, with all the cladding stripped, I wanted it gone and also the pole from the back garden. What a shit job at 7.30 in the morning, digging out the pole was...
I nearly gave up, but as I was going to the scrappy it had to be done.
Anyhu got it done, cut the concrete off it and then loaded all the cladding and took it to the scrap yard.
When I was unloading it, I realized I'd left the fuckn pole behind!
Not that it would have made much difference to the tally!!!
I was told I'd get 12 cents a kilo but they only gave me 5 cents a kilo!!!!!
So 240 kg netted me a massive $12.00!!!
Not even enough for a coffee and a toastie, I had to use my card as that came to $13.50..
Still better to get paid than pay 27 cents a kg to dump it!
The scrappy is just over the road from where I get sand so I grabbed. 25 of a cube and went home to start on bricks.
It was 11.00 am by then but I didn't lay a brick till I got set up , cut down 40 odd bricks and set out the profiles. It was 2.30 by that time
Got 2/3rds of the first corse of bricks down by 4.30.
Then B got home with beer so it took a bit longer to do the last 3rd.
By the time I was done and cleaned all the gear, it was 8pm!
Then I had to cook lamb chops...
Good day and at least the pile of scrap is offa the lawn!

2 courses and I'll make some steel straps up and bolt em to the slab. Will pour another slab over the existing at some point as the existing is uneven as fuck. Gunna cut several holes in existing and dig out for footings . Bit of a convoluted way of doing things but there is a few good reasons for doing it this way.
 
Lil more progress! Dumped a load of scrap the other day and picked up some more on Friday! I need an incinerator, b found a fella that was giving away some 44 gallon drums so I picked up 4 of em.
1 for the incinerator and 1 or 2 of the others I will chop up to make form work for concrete rings that I want to put around the citrus trees then put a few courses of bricks on top of.
Got the brick work on the garage finished an today will drop the garage down ready to start cladding after I finish the last bit of timber work.
Also picked up some galvanized poles off of a mate. Gunna plant these along the boundary and put shade cloth up. Fuck ton cheaper than a fence! It has a farm fence there already, just want a bit of privacy and a bit of a wind break for our Lil trees..

When i lived with the Kiwi's (1992-1995) we got two 44 gallon drums, one half we used as a BBQ and the other half was a hot plate, the other one we made into a veg steamer, we called it an improvised Hangi pot. We would have BBQ's all year round, we had one once when it was -10 one night, we had a massive fire pit in the middle of the garden, we would just sit round that drinking with music blasting out, usualy The Angels!! The guy that lived next door worked as a baker most of his life, old boy, on Sundays he would make fresh bread and give us a load of rolls and loaves of bread, great times!! :love: (y)

A Lil more progress... dropped the garage down on Sunday, didn't have time for too much more as had moving stuff to do.
Today I had Dr's appointment and a couple of hours paid work do wasn't a big day on the garage.
Did manage to get the strip bracing on to sure things up and plumb up the corners.
Slso got the roller door kinda fitted! Needs a Lil tweeking though.
That was fun. Had to wait for b to get home as it's too heavy for me to do on my own. Turned out to be too heavy for the both of us..
B came up with a great plan! Drag it up with the car. Lil bit of thinking out and it worked a treat!
Tomorrow I'm picking up some steel bar to bend into brackets to anchor the frame back to the slab , then I'm almost ready to clad..

So, got the roller door working nice.
Did it bright an early before the wind picked up, it's been blowing a gale last few days and it's making shit difficult...
Whilst the door was over extended , I took the chance to paint the top of it while it was easy to get to. It's gunna look really good!
Also got the brackets back from the engineer . Ordered some 5 x 40mm bar, the supplier said I should be able to bend it no problem but that wasn't so.
They all had to be slightly different lengths so I marked em out and took to the local chap who bent and drilled em and had em done in a few hours.
So they are on and the building is going no where!
Picked up another side door as the one I had required too much work and would always look shit.
Got a nice tidy metal one for a good price from the demo warehouse. Got 2 locks with keys and 4 hinges from a charity shop for 3 dollars! Well pleased eith that.
Framed out and fitted the side door and 1 lock. Just needs the other lock fitting and a lock of paint.
Now I just have to do a bit more work on the timber at the top to make sure the iron will sit flat. Guinness of a job but hopefully I'll get that done this morning and start cladding!
Also made an incinerator for the old boy bext door. He liked the one I made for myself and said he could use one. He was so happy he gave me a cucumber....

The old slab, although all over the shop, is still solid. Put 2 70mm thunder bolts in each bracket and they all bit and cranked up tightly. But yes, when we get round to putting the new slab over, it would take something to dislodge those bad boys!
