A choice that I will make next. Just out of interest (and I doubt if I'll take any notice!) ignoring money, for just pure fun (so, forget economy, touring, etc) which one?
KTM 890 Duke R or Ducati Supersport 950

Supersport for me, although reviews suggest they’re both top bikes.

The KTM with a full system, get rid of that ergonomic sess-pit of an exhaust - today I was told I was a beautiful shape for a man, that exhaust is like having @Robarano strapped to the side of your bike instead of an exhaust shaped like me - svelt & somewhat perfect, not my words 🤷‍♂️ 🤪

Perfect!

One vote for Ducati, one for KTM, and one for either! Indecision is my friend!

I have not yet seen either in the flesh, and that has to be the important thing!

Both have questionable beauty in the exhaust (though I think that the Ducati is worse), but I am changing nothing, so the choice is as is.

Que? 🤷‍♂️

Daftest question of the year award :ROFLMAO:
Actually, a sound question: today, I am doing will be writing and have just had a long call with the guy doing it, and now I need a rest! Tomorrow, I have Ringo Starr coming for a jam, with my brother joining in on keyboards, so Wednesday is the target.

I will again be tired after lying to Ringo that I can see anything, so will need rest again tomorrow. It is odd, because when Hastings said that I was a lying cnut, I never worried about it, because that is their job, but when your own side start on the same gig, once Hastings have thrown in the towel, I can only see it as bizarre.

I am really struggling with this. My optic nerve connection to my brain was disrupted by the massive brain bleed that I suffered. That is documented. The specialist that I saw at Cheltenham Hospital said that there was nothing that could be done, and the body would sort itself out. She was right, and it did. So, as far as I am concerned, that is it - done, finished, ancient history. But no, as this consultant at Cheltenham Hospital didn't know what the feck she was talking about, so we need to get Ringo Starr in, with my brother present, to stop the lying. And this is all supposed to be for my benefit! I know that it will anger my brother and sister if I throw in the towel, but I am sorely tempted to! I just want to put it all behind me, now. This was three years ago, and I refuse to live my life revolving around it. It is time to move on, I think!

I think that I said that it was all a target, after I get riding this KTM. I like to plan ahead

I could always just stick with what I have, and may do so!

Indeed. The salient point :(
If that is the case why buy new and suffer instant depreciation and lets be honest, neither of your two suggestions is going to win any awards for beauty.
Why not consider something like a Superlight like this ?

If I wasnt expecting to move house imminently and possibly scratching behind the sofa for a few quid I`d be keen on that. They look great in yellow and it is most unlikely to shed loads of value. They are great to ride too should you ever get to that point.

Because if I was to get something, there would be a part-ex, so I would want to use a dealer, and I was to buy something then I may as well buy new as this will be for keeps.

So, if they are shit, what isn't?

If you can ride, something that makes you feel alive like a current litre bike - GSXR, ZX10, R1, V4.

If you can't ride then something that will appreciate - 748R, 996R etc.

Neither of the options you put forward are an exciting ride or worth holding onto as an investment.

I am NOT buying for an investment, but to enjoy riding and explore. And whilst I have a clean licence at present, there is a long queue of people waiting to give me the, "I told you so", if I dirty it. I don't need a litre rocket ship, but just a good road bike. And I do not want heavy.

Have you considered the Yamaha XSR900 ? If I was after a new Monster type bike that would be on my list to try. I know a couple of people who them and really rate them . Sadly beaten with the ugly stick at birth but you cant have everything can you?

If I go Jap, then there are a few makes of Yamaha, or Kawasaki, that I would consider and that model had not come up on my radar. I am not swooned by its looks, but not repelled. I will get down to Fowlers when I get out on my KTM (that’s where it came from) and have a browse, Apart from KTM, they do Yam and Kawasaki as well. I will do a bit more research on that model, as it is not out of question. Thanks for the steer!

That engine is the same as used in the MT09, that was on my Jap list, so I will definitely keep it in mind! Now, I will look up its price, as I have not done that relatively important task!

The older model, up to 2020 was not so ugly but I know you are keen to buy brand new .

About £10,200 so OK
There are a few @ £9650 which seems a decent offer. Mind you last year when I was looking for an Adventure type bike and before I bought my Stelvio I was tempted by the Suzuki Vstrom 1050 . Another ugly thing but even now brand new from £8500 ish which looks cracking value. Heavy bikes though.

What do you want a bike for Perry, do you need one at all, what type of riding would you be doing?
