Gone and done it.......

  Nice one mate!

Who's typing for you????

Or have you had the webbed hands fixed now???:D

No still webbed ;)

Surprised your sticky fingers are quite so dextrous as well!

Got noisey pipes on this bike then?

Standard fella. Couldn't compete with the RR even with a race kit on;).

Plus I'd rather hear the RR when we get out on them!:D

First priority is to sort out the suicide stand!

Who the f*ck thought that that was a good idea!

I think the suicide stand used to be a requirement by Italian law, Ducati's had them, also, fitted for a while.

You need to get a set of noisey pipes for it!

That still doesn't explain why someone thought it was a good idea:confused: The safety proximity switch on the side stand is a far better solution.

Going to live with the F4 a while before any exhaust shenanigans......

For a long time first place to look for damage on a Ducati was the left side, exhaust, clutch lever etc. Huge number ended up on their side because someone moved them/sat on them and forgot sidestand had come up.:(
Many have been modified now but you will still come across the odd one.

Why would you want a ride on a Nazi WW2 rocket???? ;)

Poor I know............( as he takes his coat off the hook and, head down, heads toward the exit)

i can think of worse things to ride......actually no i cant (take my coat of the hook etc etc etc)

maybe u shouldnt have said santa doesnt exist !!!!!!!!!:comp2:
u never know he mightve got u a set :D

 at that price I bet you fifty quid he hasn't:D :D

To put in your stockings :D

:lol2:  :lol2:

yip mine........cos my father has been 'fixing it' for..................hmm.........4 1/2years........
tbh you get used to it......i lost the fear after about 3 years ( and 3 drops) but it doesnt make parking quickly easy - hence the reason i am alway last to park up....:o

Ok then, earlier there were a few people asking about how the F4 would ride and if it really was a viable road bike... well after this weekends little excursion I can now give some opinions with the knowledge gained on sunday....

Is it a viable road bike?

Yes, definately, riding position is similar to 749/999 so not that uncomfortable, maybe the bars are a little more severe in the position and issues similar to 1098 with fingers and thumbs getting trapped between tank and bars. Tank range looks ok, so no issues there. Suspension can easily be adjusted to suit both rider and roads, Moffat to St Mary's loch is fairly demanding for both rider and bike and I loved it!!!:D :D :D

So, now the actual riding experience. First impression was how smooth everything was,and I mean everything. Clutch, brakes, acceleration gear change... everything. Engine pulls from about 3K upto 11k revs, over rev indicator flashes on dash at about 12... at that point the engine is howling. Real grunt is from about 7K up. You get lots of growling and induction noise if you open the throttle at low revs or short shift.

Handling is good, not the lightest bike to flick around but a change in tyre profile could help that, personally it suits me as it is. Very responsive to throttle changes mid corner....

I had been a bit worried, James May took a lambo countach out for a run once, ruined his childhood dreams and fantasies.... mine are still intact!;) :)

Hope this helps anyone who is pondering if an F4 is worth a chance.....

Now what about those servicing costs......

oh i know id like it, but it wouldnt be very happy living in the garden as there's only room for the 749 in me shed ;)

 Holy Thread Resurection!

Well after nearly 5 years to the day the F4 will be leaving me for pastures new this week.

What have i learnt in the 5 years I've had it.

Reliable. 1 battery in 5 years.

Servicing. Find a good independant.

Riding. As you want it, quick or cruising, it managed it all.

Wet weather(ie Scottish Weather) dealt with the wettest Mashers on record without any issues.

Depreciation. lol... It almost started to increase in value, if I sold it privately I may have actually made cash.
