Winter Project 2005 ST4S

I couldn'd download pictures because my attachments were at the limit so had to delete previous.
All ready for touring this summer.
Have got a Euro trip planned with a few friends.
Hull for the ferry,Rotterdam,Hamburg,Copenhagen,Oslo,Stockholm then back to Rotterdam.
Have heard about the Alantic road in Norway and looked at a video on YouTube and its about 250 miles off route but would be a shame to miss it as it looks awesome.

If only I had the time to get my own project finished this quick, looks the business and will be a great bike to do that trip on. Be very interested to see how good the screen is as I am tall 6'4" and have problems with the wind buffeting with my standard sized one.

If you are thinking of Norway then the word is that a new ferry service will be starting from Newcastle sometime around May/June. Otherwise it's over to Holland and up through Denmark. Give me a shoot if I can be of any assistance.

Will the new ferry link to Norway be coming into Haugesund by any chance,if it is I might come over on my Diavel because I'll be here for at least 2 years.

That's interesting. I went to Sweden via Newcastle to Gothenberg a couple of times in the early '80s but that ferry hasn't run for years.

I can't get the bike to tick over below 1500rpm so I suspect the TPS setting is not right. When I set it up it was a fiddly affair with a couple of paper clips jammed in the plug and my meter on to the paper clips and it all kept coming undone and a bit amateurish so made up this cable from an old Ducati wiring harness I had.The bottom plug goes to the TPS and the top plug is my test point.I will cut the original plug off and solder in the new lead and it leaves the test point on the bike for future use.My meter fits into the test point and is a tight fit so shoud be easier to set up.
Also got the R&G bar ends and fork protectors on,and a carbon front fender extender.

Planning to go late July early August to try and get the best weather. The main part of the trip is the roads to Sweden/Norway going from Rotterdam over the Zuider Zee and into Hamburg then up into Denmark and the Oresund tunnel and bridge then up the coast of Sweden which should be stunning.

Don't know the details so far but I'll post them when/if the ferry is go. Sweden - trees, trees and more F'n trees! Nearly got my head taken off by a Golden Eagle TWICE in 10 miles, the even more trees, oh løøk a river! trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, ees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, bush, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, ees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, house, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, cow, trees, ees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees,

TPS reset today, backed off all the adjustment and checked the reading on my meter and it was 301mv so that is the reason for not ticking over at 1250rpm.Cut off the original plug for the TPS and spliced my new test point cable into the wiring harness.Reset the TPS at 150mv and adjusted to 423mv.Started the bike and seems to be a lot better. After warmed up ticking over ok.It was a lot easier to set everything up with my test point added and had a much more secure fitting for my meter.

Awesome job Alex,
It was great to see it in the flesh at the show.
This was the bike I had at the track night and Squires weekend last year.

So glad it went to a good home :)

Took the bike for its mot today and passed ok.Fixed a small water leak at the temp sender and primed the Scottoiler.Put a few miles on the clock and made a couple of adjustments to the suspension. Its running well and changing the gearing to ST4 spec has made it a bit more responsive. As the weather is to be good this week will get a few more runs and make sure everything is ok.

I have been out on the bike every day this week and have clocked up just over 900 miles. Also had a few problems.
On the first day when I got back home stalled it at a junction going into Auchinleck and it wouldn't start so had to push start it.Checked it out and found not charging.I fitted a new regulator during the rebuild and not working.Fitted the original and now charging ok.
Noticed that the clutch lever was at max adjustment to get it to work ok when it was at no2 position before. So had a look at the m/cyl and the slave cyl and discovered that the aftermarket slave cyl was missing a spacer at the end of the clutch pushrod. It must have fallen out when the bike was stripped and I never noticed, found it lying in the box where I had id stored,so put it back in and now back to normal position.
Acouple of times when stopped at junctions it would cut out on one cyl intermittently.Seemed to get worse when warmed up.Only happened at tick over and cleared when up the revs.On wed night when I got home found it was the hor cyl that was cutting out so swapped the coil sticks over and it went to the vert cyl .The coil stick was breaking down a t low revs.Changed it to a spare I had and running ok.
Its been running ok the last couple of days and it feels a different bike from last year.Every thing feels tight and now the brakes have bedded in a lot better.
The new sargent seat is a big improvement over the standard one and I am well pleased with the bike.:):):):flash::flash::flash:

Still working OK as are the other SSR,s had to put a resistor on the injection relay as I was getting a feed from the ecu when everything was switched off and was draining the battery.
