yeah, I've been meaning to buy one. Any suggestions?Sonic bath with a dishwasher tab in it takes the work out of cleaning carbs

And that is exactly my philosophy except when it comes to the ladies...quantity over quality for me!If you are going after the goodies, better to buy once than twice on some cheapies
Nothing wrong with quality an quantity, same with bikesAre you exi's american cousin?
HE should take that as a compliment! Are you exi's american cousin?
How much? I'd love some for my 900ss.So it seems I am better at spending money than actually restoring my bike. I literally cannot believe a found a set of these for my Superlight! I paid dearly but soooo worth it!

Thats not too far off from what i paid including shipping. These are in incredibly good shape though. So if the ones you found are also in great shape that price is not too bad. Are they the high mount version? I believe Termignoni still sell the low mount version though in oval shape. How much? I'd love some for my 900ss.
Found a place in Italy but I think they wanted 1100 gbp or something stupid...

Unfortunately, for our old bikes nice parts are just hard to get so I just expect to get bent over. I wont tell you what I paid for an NOS wiring harness. So what about buying some Silmotors and slapping a Termi sticker on them? That was my original plan before I stumbled upon these Termis. They were new low mount round versions..
I'm not tight but that's like 2.5 k kiwi dollars.. I could buy a bike for that!!! ( OK, a shit one but I'd probably get more fun out a shit bike than some zorsts!)
ha ha! Unfortunately the bike is still not running though I did fire up the 851 and got some disapproving looks as I must have disturbed some easter egg hunting.Have your neighbours noticed the difference yet![]()
I would say you can tell a lot by sight and feel. If they’re still pliable and there are no obvious cracks/splits I’d say don’t replace them.Starting the process of reinstalling the carbs and airbox back on my SL. I was certain I would have to replace the rubber boots that connects the intake to the carbs and carbs to airbox but I noticed mine are the original ones with the Cagiva logo! Now I am not sure I want to replace them. They still feel pliable and not too stiff without any rips or tears. If possible I definitely want to re-use these. How do I tell if these rubber boots need replacing?

NoWould oil soaking them for a while help with flexibility ?
That's funny. Literally all the parts I have bought for this has come from Europe!Something I did find which maybe useful. When ever I wanted a part for the fugly but wanted it new, when typing in my model followed by NOS, the vast majority of the parts did seem to be in the U.S.
I much prefer the original off-white colour on the insideWell, this restoration project just got a bit more interesting. I always knew this bike needed some serious attention but of course until I took all the fairings off and really poked around I wouldn't fully understand the extent. I thought the frame looked a bit shabby but I figure it was normal given the bikes age. It turns out the previous owner attempted to paint the frame without completely stripping the bike. I can see the original paint on the inner side if the frame which actually looks pretty bright white still. So now I need to figure out if I want to do a complete tear down and restoration including having the frame repainted or put this bike back together as is and just ride it. I've been toying with the idea of dropping the engine to replace the cylinder studs anyway. It wouldn't take that much more effort to remove the forks. I am leaning towards doing a complete restoration which given my pace should take me about 2 years.

Agreed on the color. Disagreed about putting it back together then stripping it down again later. Once this baby gets put back together it is absolutely not coming apart again unless I am parting it out to sell because I binned it!I much prefer the original off-white colour on the inside.
If it were mine I’d get it road ready now and then strip it down over the winter months, except I think your in SoCal aren’t you, so no winter, that’s a dilemma.
