MOT With Loud Cans?

Anyone know where I can get an MOT on my 996 with Termignoni race cans on it? Somewhere near Newcastle. Probably not possible but worth a try. Just don't want to put standard ones back on. Thanks..
 
Maybe you are a DVLA inspector, come on here with your first post looking for some easy pickings....
 
A DVLA Inspector will know it's at the discretion of the tester anyway. :) We have a termi-friendly tester down here.................some are, some are not.
 
As said earlier, at the discretion of the tester, mine went through no problem in sept with Termis and my Speed Triple went through with a short GP carbon can :) all for track use only lol
 
If you are that worried, you can take your standard cans with you as proof that you have a set of legal cans. I've done that in the past. Although, I must say that I have never had a problem, even with a fully open race can. Discretion of the indivudal tester? I don't of know many that do fail for a 'loud' can Mr DVLA inspector:eek:

and as mr pict says, or suggests, you shouldn't mention mot centres that pass our bikes
with the noisy cans..maybe do it through p.m but not publicly.
we all have our guys that pass our bikes ..
 
MoT testers seem to love the sound of my titanium Termis even if one of my anonymous note-writing neighbours doesn't. :D

It doesn't matter if you mention them or not, it's not illegal. "Noisy" is a relative term. Discretionary is the important word. The tester's opinion. No one else.
 
As far as I am aware there is no noise limit, the problem is for race use only, just put a sticker or a piece of tape over the words for race use only and job done, the tester is not allowed to remove the sticker.

Just what I was going to say. It's better to use a sticker than to file off the stamp. Tester discretion as far as volume is concerned, "in comparison to other similar bikes" as mine put it.
 
taking your standard cans wont help at all as all that proves is you have a pair of standard cans in a bag. it is entirelly at the discretion of the tester unless the cans are marked as not for road use. If you have some that say some such thing you have to remove it or cover it up, yes a piece of tape will do, as its on at the time of testing the tester cant see the marking so he cant fail it. of course if that piece of tape is not on once you get home, thats just the way things go

you are spot on, everything you are saying makes sense.
as in Noisy.
i've played in bands for now, 40 years.

termi stuff is pish compared to
three , one hundred marshall heads and six marshall four by twelves, behind me and thats even
before any plug ins,

sorry, what were you saying ?

you'll have to speak up dear!!!!! been to too many noisy concerts, cant hear what your saying, you should try standing in front of a band with three , one hundred marshall heads and six marshall four by twelves, before any plug ins,

Never had a problem in years.

I knew I wasn't going to have a problem when I asked would I be wasting my time putting my standard cans on and the answer came back was yes I would.:)

Mine passed yesterday with the full termi system on, just put down as 'noisy exhaust' on the advisories notice.
