I need a MIRACLE (Bloody insurance on the Bayliss)

Its insurance time for the Bayliss & after 4 brokers & no results I am pig sick.
It is still the value of the bike that screws it all up & it being a specific run of 500 bikes.

Await Ducati Insurance to get back to me, but if I fail to get insurance , my biking days are gone & I will become a Nissan GTR owner.
Get fully comp for £550 for that.

Why build Ducati's at £24-22K & not be able to get insurance.

Would have loved a 1199 Tricoloure, but absolutly no point in chasing this as the insurance would be none existant.

Come on DUCATI INSURANCE. Save the day please?

wow, just as i left the renewal for the bm came through post box, its dropped £50 on last year, brand new bike increased value to 12K and its still lower than before, its with Ducati insurance who always seem to do a good job, if anyone can sort it surely they can Chiz?

As you remember I came off the Bayliss last year & it resulted in a £12K claim.
No issues with the insurers then, but you remember the issue I had in getting insurance initially.
It was £1500 last year with a £750 excess.
Reasons being. It is not garaged & kept in a Esure security box. Behind electric secured gates, behind rough iron fences, behind 12ft stone walls. Blaaa.dee.bla.dee.blaaaa.
Not going into it but if it was not for DG intervening & getting some leverage with Ducati Insurance I was going to be screwed.

Hopefully I can get the bike insured again, BUT NEVER AGAIN, will I purchase a special run of a model.

I should have tricked up my 848 & had fun with that. :)

I feel for you Chiz, but I think you're "ontae plums" as they say on the West Coast :(

The bike value, the limited nature of it, where you keep it and your recent claims history are creating a perfect storm.

However, there is light at the end of the tunnel. I'm prepared - at great personal expense - to "look after" the 1098R for you. Because I know you personally, instead of using an optimate, I'll take it for a wee "top up" run every now and then to keep things nicely charged up and make sure the oil circulates. I won't even charge...

You will require Molenz to keep it clean then. ;)

I would give the Bayliss to you Robbie, but DG would need to get it re-geared for you.
You wouldn't get it out of first.

Dear Captain Slow. :) I would not worry about being slow. As long as you ride to your own capabilities. THEN YOU WILL BE SAFE.
As for the Bayliss it is so highly geared that 2nd is still mega fast :)

:lol2::lol2::lol2::lol2::lol2:

good luck with the insurance though...am still hoping to see you out this year more than once!!!

Could be mate, but I think yer personal circumstances aren't helping either like. (garaging and the drop)
I've got mine on Ducati Ins with a year old MTS12(with commute cover, just cost an extra 58 quid) , xs 450 1098/250 MTS12 and still under a grand. Full NCB and 45 yrs old, tracker on the Troy.

I have a full (PROTECTED)NCB. WAS Riding without a claim since 1980. Its in a bikesafe, fully alarmed & a tracker monitor on it. Must be the safest Bayliss in the country. Also an old 53 year old Old Fart.
I got it eventually last year through DI as nobody else would touch the bike.

Hopefully DI wil do the business again. I think they go through Equity Red.

Its a scary warning to people that want to buy an exclusive bike & find they cannot due to insurance issues, even though they have been a safe rider for 3 decades :(

Think the way the protected NCB works is a guaranteed % off. (say 60 etc)
But the base premium can still be raised due to your big claim last year.
So they end up putting a huge weighting on, then calculate your NCB discount.
I had this with cars years ago without losing any NCB. They are bandits.

Well lets hope that the Bayliss makes it out of its metal case this year & not to a Nissan dealer along with the 370Z to get a toy that can be easily insured.

If it was £1500 and an excess of £750 before the accident costing £12K to repair then you know it's going to be fairly big.

Yep, I've never bothered with protected no claims on any vehicle for this very reason...

I was 25 when I realised they wouldn't count my motorcycle no claims when I was looking to insure a car, but conversely they would take into account motorcycle accidents and claims when taking out car insurance*. As you say, bandits.

* = Make sure you're aware of this Chiz - and they want details of accidents where you didn't claim as well!

Ive been playing around on a few sites.

If I drop the value of the Bayliss from £22 to £18K then I can get cover for £406.
That is already a saving of £1K a year on last years quote

Therefore, if Ducati Insurance cannot help, do I drop my valuation of the Bayliss & hope I do not bite the dust again?

Just found out that the quotes are from the insurers I am with now.
Will be interesting to see what they have to say.

So by dropping the value from £22K to £18K the same insurer will drop £1K a year off the insurance quote.
Interesting.
