Electrictrickery question

Is it the case with these that the head of the bolt seizes to the swingarm, just like in the sssa of the regular 1200 dvt, and it’s not the actual threads that seize?

If so, after cutting the bolt, how would you remove the head?
Absolutely 👍 I woke in the middle of the night and thought ‘I can’t cut it out’ because if I do then, great, the shock is out, but how the hell do I get the head and the threaded bit out for there’s only about an inch wide gap there that the shock fits snugly into. Bad idea.

also, yes, it very probably is the bolt head that’s seized, I doubt very much that bolt was greased when put in at the factory 😕. 7 years and 40,000km of galling to overcome.

When i remove fixings on any bike it's always a good idea to apply copperslip as you are probably aware of. It's a habit i have but long term it works a treat. (y)

I’m off to buy a multi-tool and some carbide tipped metal cutting blades, I think I’m going to have to end up cutting through the bolt 😕
Oh, I love this stuff 😁👍,

It has never failed me yet 👍. Loads yesterday, more this morning, more before lunch, more after lunch. It’s 4.30, just about to pack up for the day and thought I’ll just give it one more try. 1 metre breaker bar, apply all my strength and CRACK. Thought I’d broken something at first but no, the only thing that broke was the galling twixt bolt head and swing arm. In out, more lube, in out, more loud cracks and 5mins later it’s turning fully and can now be fully extracted - yayyy 👍.

I’m off for a 🍺 now.
