DuCafe 750ss project

I thought you might like to see that I do own a Ducati!

This is my first attempt at building a bike

The donor is a 92 J plate 750ss on 16k miles

First thing was to strip it down, the engine was stripped and painted with black heat resistant paint

As this is my first project I decided to keep everything as simple as possible

No fancy colours, no engine modifications apart from filter changed to MWR and any jetting required

Here's the frame just out of the oven

Now to start the rebuild

I have fitted a scaffold pole through the walls of my office/workshop to support the bike using a strap :D

As you can see, my first mistake was getting the frame powdercoated before I have sorted the rear and removed any brackets

However at £40 I thought it cheap enough to get it done again when everything is sorted. And I may want to change the colour anyway

The tank has been stripped, and I have made a fiberglass rear pod

If there is any interest I will post a thread about making the pod

This is a trial run to see what it's like and also practice as its the first one I have made

All they alloy parts have been blasted and will eventually be anodized

That's were I am at the moment

Things that need to be done:

  • I have a monster loom so that needs fitting and the connectors changing to fit

(Anyone local able to give some pointers on this?)
  • Get some brackets made for the single round headlight
  • Strip and service the forks
  • Decide on a tail light design
  • Ditto indicators
  • Design and make (or get made) a speedo bracket

Or perhaps get one from another bike (not a monster)
  • Find out how to fit a different speedo. What's all this about ratios?

So, there you go

I will keep updating as and when I have done something

Nice work - geez that frame's RED

I'm looking forward to watching this one progress.

As this is an ongoing project, maybe the moderators could move this to the "Projects" section.
