I logged in to Facebook this morning on my iPod from Moscow. Facebook claimed not to recognise the device and blocked the account. I got an email to say to login on my normal computer and follow the instructions.

Home now, did that, but no instructions.. if I post or navigate I get an error to say that I am not connected (I bloody am!! Just saw Chiz's latest missive) and I need to log on again. I log on again, see all the latest posts but when I try to post or navigate....

The help is not helpful, so I mark it as not helpful, but that doesn't help.

Yes, I've switched the computer off and on again. Also went to 'sessions' closed down the Moscow sessions and restarted again. Still the same..

you just keep logged off as i know the comments you are going to post.

They recognise that you are not where you usually are, if that makes sense. I got notification from them recently asking if I had attempted to log on from another location. Turns out it was somewhere like Cyprus I think. It's their security (maybe?) and I just changed my password as advised and the issue was over.

you control the devices from an account setting, go to the small arrow next to "home" drop down and select "account settings" then click security on left hand side, from there you get a list of options you can switch on or off and at the bottom a setting to check devices, you can disconnect an unrecognised device from there HTH

I log on from everywhere with different equip, and never had an issue. If I go into my account details, it does give details of the various places/equip,
but Ive never been shut out. Strange.

Thanks guys - am back on.

Pete / Mike - tried what each of you had suggested but to no avail. I went down the 'report an issue' route late on Thursday, then again yesterday. When I logged in today I was asked a security question and all was well again.

Glen - Seems there is a lot of this going on (re Pete's Cyprus experience), since moaning about my problem to anyone in earshot I have heard about a few of these rogue access attempts. I think the action they took was commendable, just i was wrongsided that the recovery process (answer a security question from your usual device) did not happen in my case. Ironic that it was me trying to access all along.

probably OK here at home, it sounds like foreign stuff is the issue?

I wrk all over the world and other than when behind the great Firewall of China can always access but i use same laptops/phones etc it but I know its quite a common problem, my guess is it'll be certain countries, Russia is bad for hacking/spam so they want to check its actually you if accessed from a Russian IP address and new device.
