Your first bike, bike history ????

Knocked about on various sods and sods like FS1E, RD250E, GT125 mates at school. Wasn't allowed to own a motorbike, coz mi Mam said they were dangerous, so knocked about in a Mini 998 MkII which ended up with some strange motors in it. Long stroke cooper 1100 and summat stuff like that.
First bike I properly owned was when I left home; it was a 40 quid basket case I built and got through an MOT then rode to work!! Candy apple CB250K4 (SLK 46L) also had a purple K3 to keep the K4 going.
Chopped that in for a CB400/4F2 (XVS 249S) with a polished ali tank, 2/4 seat, reverse conti exhaust shoved straight on the the 4 pipe collector box. And, it had the same wheels as the 80's Ducati SD's. That was a good bike even if you had to be really good friend to take a pillion.
Chopped that in for a GSX1000sz Katana (which I've still got) was black and blue but was repainted black frame, black and silver bodywork; and then the latest and greatest the Daddy; 888 SP4S.
Deffo' getting another hack around as the SP4S is getting a bit too valuable to start chanceing with bloody car drivers around nowadays.
So, maybe end of the year we'll look for a 996 or 998, or a supermoto as the Mrs and daughter No#1 want to pass their test.

Ains - would your Katana have the fixed headlight or the pop-up one??

Fixed, the 750 was the first one with the pop up headlight. Not sure if any of the later 90's Jap grey imports had 'em.

Never seen a pop-up'd Katana in the flesh - did any make it to the UK do you know?

Yeah, the pop up Kat 750 was an official UK bike. Mates girlfriend (now his Mrs) had a purple and black one.
Wasn't all that fussed about the design, it was like the design had been taken a bit too far.

to my dad'd delight and my mum's dismay i got my first little green machine (Ae 50) i think when i was about 11 or so and thus a bond was born... Got another off road number Ke125 when i grew out of that then unfortunately ahd to punt it after the local farmer started a vendetta agains my pal and i for tearing up his fields and planted them all so we had nowhere to ride. Nothing much happening then til li was 16 and got my first two wheels on the road - haha a wee honda vision scooter - best fun ever!!!

unfortunately from i was 17 untill 2 years ago when i passed my test there was a bit of a biking dry spell but that all changed when i got my 600ss in 2003. Still think my dad should have given me his 900ss instead of selling it to some guy who later punted it on but oh well... suppose it will make up for it once he donates the 916 to me....

Ha yeah, my Mrs first bike was the H*nda 50 step through in blue with the shopping basket on the front and a clockwork wind up starter.

Used to stalk all the 50cc racers with it round where we lived. It was supposedly restricted to 30mph, but with a baffle knock out of the exhaust you could get about 40mph out of it, and better still it'd change direction quicker than the moped thanks to the small wheels.
Used to be a pain at traffic lights though, by the time it had wound up enough to activate the clutch everybody had roared off so, the best starts were Le Mans starts! Get off and when the lights changed leg it across the lights with the throttle wide open and when it started to pull you jump on and away you went. Hilarious. :D What's more car drivers were so astounded at these antics they often sat at the lights watching you leg off into the distance and forget to move themselves. Used to do a weeks trolling around on less than 1/2 gallon of fuel too. Sold it for 10 quid more than we bought it for in the end. Wish we hadn't now. Top bike.
