I can’t believe it’s nigh on 25 years since we lost Joey. Here he is on his way to winning the Formula 1 on the SP1 in 2000. DJ broke down although Joey was leading at the time.
I was at the Creg during this race, the SP1 sounded like a Lancaster!
Joey won the 125 and 250 races as well, I think Bruce was on the podium in the 250.
DJ won 3 races that year.

Kiwi Shaun Harris in 4th, he had a bad crash at the TT in 2007 or 08 which ended his TT career sadly. I’m sure he was still riding in New Zealand up until about 5 years ago.

Hopefully Bruce will be about when I get on the Island, I’ve been wanting him to sign my book for years.
Very elusive is Bruce, one of my favourite riders. He’d be asleep 30 minutes before the start of a race, get up and then fly down Bray Hill at top speed!
He didn’t mince his words, a great character
