and what about the question of signatures? Is it ok to advertise through them? Is it ok to advertise ther message boards/clubs through them?

I don't think it is. I've had long chats with Ian and Butch on advertising policy and i genuinely think Ian is trying to get feedback on a difficult subject. I knew when I created that banner link it would eventually prompt a reaction TBH thats why I did it, the DSC needs to look at where its going and what needs changing. Age, Antonye and more have their clubs advertised, upnorth is just the same and its not like we are doing it to take DSC members, just the opposite, by growing upnorth and promoting DSC events like the trackdays it could encourage people to join. its not an us and them, the DSC does offer certain benefits, it might not to some here but it will to others. its the same with DOC and UKMOC, if Ducati owners find upnorth and then decide to join a club because their friends or riding buddies are a member thats part of why its here, I'd hope they still consider themselves an upnorth member as well. i think most of you know my goal has always been to unite owners, I feel there isn't enough up here for 2 or 3 clubs and by working together we can get a active community without losing our individual club roots.

Sounds fine to me too - after all we only want to ride don't we - leave politics to them what knows politics. One place where everybody can call, get the goss, leave a message, arrange whatever has got to be easier!
 
Sounds ok , but surely there,s a risk that rather join or renew with one of the respective clubs people might just decide that the various ride outs and events organised/advertised here cover everything the various clubs do and not join any of them ?

thoughts ?

To be honest the whole point of DuN was in my view because various clubs don't do anything up North....

Its a good point but all the clubs offer beneits upnorth doesn't - Ducati only trackdays, monster weekender, DOC Northern Rally, club discounts etc.

I'm a DSC member but it doesn't really offer me a lot apart from a good website and 1 trackday a year, there are only 2 members in Cumbria!! so its not like we can have a regional meet. With upnorth i can find other Ducati owners to meet, ride with that my club can't provide so it cuts both ways. I've tried to get DOC and DSC to begin dialogue aimed at getting a more unified community to help resolve this, suggested a pre season meet to organise a calendar so there's less conflict on event dates and am currently assisting one club with other ideas aimed at improving things .

I know with upnorth that there will be riders who find everything they want here but they might not have joined one of the clubs anyway, at least here they are part of that Ducati family and will participate in the events organised by the clubs or upnorth, if the clubs can't then enroll them then the question should be " what do we need to provide to our membership?"not complain that they've "lost" a member to upnorth. This isn't a club, its a place to meet chat and organise, there's no committee, no organisation and it revolves around you, the reader and ducati rider to make things happen ,this website can only facilitate that not provide it for you, a club maybe could.....

Its an interesting discusion and one I'd like to see include comments from the 3 big clubs committees and MT's as after dialog/discussion and debate it might be that all 3 clubs have the same aims and goals ......

Funny you should say that. It all comes down to what you want from a club and what's worth paying for. If it's just local rides and regional events you're after you'll get all you need from Up North without the politics an in-fighting of national clubs.
