What a load of BMF !

No doubt many other DUNers read the piece in MCN this week about the appalling state of affairs at BMF. Financial mismanagement, autocratic management, lack of transparency and accountability- and this is supposed to be the respected mouthpiece of UK bikers. Strangely, it is not the first time in recent months that this kind of discussion has taken place within a significant UK biking organisation. Let's hope that any self-respecting biking organisation or club learns to avoid this sort of fiasco and applies the lessons learned ie democratic principles and accountability to members who should be able to vote them out, especially when handling their cash. I am convinced that UK wide clubs do not work because these kinds of problems eventually surface. So join a virtual community like Ducati UpNorth (well, you have or you wouldn't be reading this !) where there's no politics to distract you from getting out to ride your bike and no fear someone's going to fritter away your cash on some dodgy venture or archaic club magazine written on slate and delivered by a wheezy carrier pigeon several months late.

Can't for the life of me imagine why anyone would want to go and give money to cossacks dancing - at least that's what my wife tells me lap dancing is:confused:

cossack dancing and finnish folk dancing is that what its all about......damn and here was me thinking you got to dance on some womans lap,id even dug out a soft pair of shoes so i wouldnt hurt anyone,if thats all it is count me out :comp2:

Someone got convicted and jailed for the lost gate receipt fraud from the BMF show, person was member of the showground staff not BMF.

Any organisation with near half million pound wage bill and year on year losses that runs to tens of thousands of pounds is gonna be in "financial crisis"


As a relative BMF outsider it has to be said that they put on a brilliant show at the showground and despite their problems are held by the short and curlies as regards the venue. A lot of UK bike clubs are affiliated to the BMF and the organisation brokers some sort of liability cover insurance to the clubs for rideouts and the like.

Big organisation with big problems but it would be a loss to all UK motorcyclists if the organisation folded, that would just leave MAG to fight independently for riders rights and keep the nanny state at bay.
