I've been watching the new series of fifth gear which is called fifth gear recharged and on quest tv. This week they compared the Mercedes e vito panel van vs the VW ABT e-transporter. They say that engineers worked out that most van journeys in a day are no more than around 62 miles?? and that explains why the range is so short and why they have limited the vans top speed.

They quoted the mercedes van as a 86 mile range and a restricted 50mph top speed and the vw van as a 82 miles range with a top speed restricted to 56mph

The other point made on both was that unlike their car cousins, there was no instant torque from standstill but more of a put your foot to the floor and wait a few seconds

Anyway if it is of interest in a real world test and you can get Quest catch up, the fifth gear recharged and it was shown this week.

You need at least 3 or 4 vans for each Diesel van you replace....
I'll find the post I did before and report it here.
