Seen these vehicles on the motoways quite a lot lately, i know they are not cops but what are they doing? if you speed passed them do they alert officer dibble? seen them parked in police laybys etc. Noticed other motorists form an orderly queue behind them when they sit in the middle lane doing 65mph (although ive seen this happen behind motorway maintenance vans too!)

Whats the craic wi' 'em :confused:
 
They probably got those ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) machine thingies to check out your insurance, tax, MOT etc as you whizz past. If you really want to know, they can scan 3000 vehicles an hour and no, it doesn't matter how small (within reason!) your number plate is...

Ummmm, seems they may have / get powers, thats all we need, wannabe cops, trying to prove their worth.

One question though, if they don't run blues lights do you have to stop for them or can you just report them for harrasing you ?

Don't think they can make you stop for them (yet) D. The first thing you know about it is that brown envelope through the post
 
I looked them up on the homeoffice site B4, points more towards commercials and passenger carriers (guess this means buses and taxis etc.) but noticed they have powers to stop ALL vehicles to check them. Guess time will tell. Looks like some northern counties are already giving them 'policing' duties to free the police for other things...
 
They pull over commercial vehicles and check there roadworthy and are usually found at local weighbridges doing checks on lorrys,coaches ect didnt think they had much to do with cars,bikes ect thought it was more commercial but could be wrong :dunno:

I think they've established a hive near where I live (J21 M6) cos there seems to be a plethora of 'em just posing in their jumped up never come down bright shoot me vehicles.:mad:

Sorry, just used the links on Dseereds and seen we may be talking about different peeps. The ones I mean are those that have appeared on the motorways in their honda hrv/crv's, bright livery and snotty attitudes - think they must either be ex-coppers or idiots who didn't get into the police years ago and are now living out their childhood dream.
I'm sure I seen one with it's red lights flashing and all three occupants shouting weee-wooo-weee-wooo-weee-wooo out of the windows.:lol:
