Anyone manage to get a bike ticket for the ferry to the TT next year?
Im on in a van, they won't mind if bikes go in back will they?

Is there plenty of camp sites there, never been before.

with all the problems of getting over for 2007 i would say if you have space in your van for a bike and stowaway you could prove to be a very popular man sometime soon.

Without checking, I would say it will be for van and contents, it may be worh checking if a motorcycle is permitted, I understand places and prices are at a premium for the 100th Anniversary and it wouldn't surprise me if they want to charge you for the bikes in the van !

Plenty of campsites but the place will be packed out Supa. Either stake your claim early or book or you'll be sleeping in your van in a layby

I have been 2times, I think you will be ok with the bikes in the van, loads do it. There are lots of camp sites to stay at.
:)

2007 wil be my 13th consecutive TT, so if you need any pointers drop me a line.

Without checking I think that 3 bikes in a van is about break even on ferry prices, so if you can find two interested punters and give them a discount you should be able to recoup about half your ticket costs.

I booked my 2007 ferry in June 2005 so I'm OK thanks.

Should be some extra camping laid on for the centenary year, so check with the IOM tourist board for details.

If you want to be in Douglas - Pubs & Nightlife
rather than elsewhere on the Island - very little activity
try the tourist board for homestay accomodation.
It is basically B&B with local people who rent out spare rooms for the race fortnight.
I found a good one in 1998 and stay there every year.
Sorry It's full this year with me and my mates.

See You There

Steve

Nice one Steve, i better sort some accomodation out then cos my friend might get too friendly in the back of his van for two weeks! :-/

Someone popped something about accomodation on notice board today in Ducati manchester, give me a ring and I will pass on details.

ive got about 15 friends going to the TT this year, unfortunetly i wont be able to make it, they booked all their stuff ages ago for it, its the big anniversary this year ???

Booked Ferry and Hotel in March last year. waiting for full price of ferry. Travel out on the Saturday afternoon, it can't come quicken enough for me.

with the foot and mouth cancellation year 2008 will be the 100 this year is 99, but it has been going for 100 years, of course next years is 30 since Hailwood won.

If anyone is interested there are usually a couple of boats go from Whitehaven to Ramsey for the day. Its 28 miles in a straight line and takes between 40 minutes and 2 hours depending on the weather.
I can get some details if anyone is interested. Bikes can be left at my house if required. It is weather dependant but can be a good run out.

I've been to the TT 'once or twice' (since 1954 as a little kid actually) and you will be fine with a van, loads do it and as long as your ticket is valid for the vehicle you arrive at the boat with you won't get any hassle. "They're far to fookin' busy"

The campsites are getting booked up but there are many sites on the IOM Tourism web site (Google)....but the best are probably Glenlough, just past Union Mills, the Douglas Rugby Club at Quarter Bridge. Both are accessible to and from Douglas at night, and both have very strict noise regs. so no bikes revvin' their nuts off at 3 in the morning. Glenlough and the Rugby club both have their own bars and Glenlough serves hot breakfasts and has many hot clean showers. I have heard they are putting on some entertainment this year as well.

If you are not tied to Douglas for nightlife there are other great sites at Peel, Kirk Michael (The Glen) and Sulby Glen (very international)

PS Martyn....first TT 1907 - Centenary 2007. The hundredth TT wouldn't actually be next year either because of war years. There is also another Centenary to be celebrated for 100 years on the "Mountain Circuit". The Centenary this year commemorates 100 years since the first races on the original circuit around St. Johns.
