The Panzer loaded up and ready to leave on Thursday for the 0215 ferry from Heysham Friday 2nd June.

Arrived on the Island around 0600 and made our way to our homestay on the Jurby Road just outside Ramsey.
Our first time staying here but we’ve known the owners for a few years.
The view from the house, at the bottom of the line I’ve drawn you can see a bit of white. This is Guthries Memorial just past the Gooseneck.

We watched Friday evening’s practice from Sulby Bridge but I have no photos which is a blessing when you see the photos I got from Sulby Straight in a minute!!

I don`t think you have the spacing right on your number plate so expect a tug from a copper. Ooh er.
 
Saturday 3rd June, first race day.
Supersport followed by the Sidecars.
We watched the Supersport at the Sulby Straight, they are hitting 170 mph here, a Superbike will hit 200.
I apologise for the photos, I think this is Deano followed by MD.

Race win 22 for MD!! Hicky and Deano complete the podium.

We then rode through Sulby Glen to watch the Sidecars at the Bungalow.
Ben and Tom on their way to another win, Peter Founds/Jevan Walmsley in second and John Holden/Maxime Vasseur in third.
John is about 65 and I believe this is his last TT so it was a popular podium.
About the only decent photo I took all week!

A view from The Bungalow, you can see how busy it was by all the parked vehicles.
More to follow but the Superstock and Supertwin Races are on and I need to listen to it. MD on 25 wins now, one short of Joey!!!

MD’s Paton and Rutter’s RC which was gifted to him by Faye Ho when they were a couple according to the mechanic!!
It’s just had a £10K refresh and the next one is at 6000 miles or km, I can’t remember what he said. This will cost £40K so it’s likely to be retired and just used for parade laps. Sounded awesome.

Looking at the weather and if it stays like it is i think MD should take the senior but as we all know this is bike racing. :unsure:
 
Tuesday 6th, Superstock and Supertwins.
We watched at the Conker Trees, top viewing spot.
Superstock Hicky wins, MD and Deano make up the podium.
Supertwins MD wins, Mike Browne and Jamie Coward make up the podium.
A couple of Chiz specials…

Wednesday 7th, Sidecar and Supersport.
We watched at St Ninians as we met some friends in the pits, not the best spot to be honest but it’s years since I watched there so still enjoyable.
Ben and Tom win again, I think that’s 11 in a row! Peter Founds/Jevan Walmsley and the Crowe brothers make up the podium.

Back home yesterday on the 0845 ferry to Heysham.
Superb weather, epic races and the Island was as beautiful as ever.
It did seem quieter than recent years though.
The TT is changing and becoming more commercial, they need to tread carefully.
One example being the Conker Trees. The farmer charges £5 to watch from his field, that’s fine by me although it was a couple of quid last year. When I got there he was charging £10 to sit on a stand he had put up, my mate arrived 45 minutes later and he had put it up to £20.
The viewing spot at Kirk Michael was £10 last year, this year it was £20.
I was talking to a couple of lads from Stafford who told me the farmer at Rhencullen had been approached by the organisers saying they were stopping people from watching on the grass bank there. They said they’d like to put a stand in his field and charge people to watch.
He told them:
1. They are not putting a stand up on his land.
2. He will carry on letting people watch on his grass bank, they didn’t realise he owned it.
All he has ever done is ask people to chuck a couple of quid in the bucket which goes to local charities.
All in all we had a cracking time and I’d move there tomorrow if I could. Roll on TT 2024.

I think that church could do with underpinning, that’s some serious subsidence 😁.

ps. What’s a Home Stay? Like B&B but they only do it for the TT week (and the Manx, and the Classic and for the whole of the school holidays?).

Homestay is B&B, they are allowed to earn up to a certain amount tax free. They register with Homestay which covers insurance etc, the properties are all checked to see if they are suitable. We paid £50/night this year, once you get a good Homestay you tend to hang on to it.
Where we stayed they put people up at anytime of year, whether that is all classed as Homestay I don’t know.
