NZ DUCATI COMMUNITY NORTH ISLAND CHAPTER MEET..

Went for a good coastal fang today, stopped at Opua and watched yachties coming and going, and laughed at people on the boatramp! Also started an epic windup! Am hoping to keep it going for a bit. Pat and his son Josh, both on big bore sports bikes, have an intercom setup. And they jabber, with arms and hands waving, a lot! Anyway, I was riding between them for a while and when we gassed up I told them that I was not going to ride between them anymore as I was getting snippets of their convo in my fillings! I think I have them convinced at this stage!😁😁😁😂😂😂

This is the carpark at the tunnel entrance to the very remote Waikawau beach.

The tunnel was built by the guy who owns the surrounding farmland to move his sheep along the beach and then thru the tunnel to access another part of the farm. It is big enough to drive a quad bike thru.

The black sand is heavy in iron ore and when you pick up a handful it is surprisingly heavy. Further along this coast it is mined for our steel industry.

Might need a cleanup now!

Lunch stop at lake Maraetai at Mangakino. It is a flooded valley, part of the massive Waikato river hydro-electric scheme. Beautiful place!

Great photos, I remember being surprised by the weight of the sand when I was there as a kid.
The Coromandel Peninsula is a fantastic place to explore.

Oh and congratulations on your latest festival ‘finding Great Britain Day’
Hope it went well.

That feckin black sand gets hot as fuck in Summer, visited my Grandmother in Urenui, Taranaki and she warned me about it, ignored her advice and promptly burned the soles of my feet on it.
Same in one of the Canaries ...... ran down and threw myself into the Sea...... which was very cold.

So Chizel... now you've had your holiday when are you coming back?
