Can anyone give me a definitive answer to this one? Can't seem to work it out from the Yamaha forums or from the Yamaha US parts catalogue.

Is the curved radiator on the YZF1000R Thunderace EXACTLY the same as that fitted to the later YZF750?

Just gives me an option, finding an 'Ace radiator is pretty difficult and I could do with one....

WTF?????? :confused: :confused: :confused: first, why not try a Y^"^!!@ site and second the japs don't do mix and match, different year or model different part and usually expensive too :comp2: ......oh my lord what are things coming to...........

Steve, what is confusing you ? Gary was asking a question, is that not allowed without ridicule ? Try a Yamaha site you say.......

I think you will find Gary a wealth of knowledge on quite a few things and am sure would help any of the DuN community with anything he could.

Apology accepted. In my experience the Japs and companies such as BSA have used and do use the same parts on different models. I have a fully restored A65 ( interchangeable with some parts on the A10) and am part way through doing a Kawasaki Turbo ( I believe the EFI throttle position sensor is as used on the Z1300 injection). They change the part numbers, hence the question. And yes I agree, they are expensive but have you seen the price for a sidestand for an 888? :eek:

gary , i used to work for a yamaha dealer and from what i remember there wasnt much interchangeable between the bikes.yamaha are one company which hasnt really went down the one part several models line. i seriously reckon a thunderace is the only option. saying that i dont think there were many changes between the first and last models so youd probably be able to use any years radiator.
i know this doesnt really clear things up but hopefully its of some help

I just wanted to make certain before I looked for a YZF750 rad as an option. I got stiffed with "Yeah that'll fit straight on mate" several times with the BSA, so I wasn't going to jump until it had been confirmed it would fit.
I've made a good few enquiries and no-one seems to know for sure, so this post was a final stop. I'll stick with what Mr. Yamaha put on it at the factory and wait for an 'Ace rad to come along. Thanks again.

Spoke to my friendly local dealer when I got the bike at the start of the year and his response was absolutely underwhelming. He was only wanted to sell me a new R6/ R1 cos the 'Ace is too old a model for him to help....... "Try the Yamaha forums." he said. Severe case of NFI. (No ****ing interest).

I spoke to Yamaha UK at the bike show, much scratching of heads and "Don't know, mate. Why not try the forums?"

Yamaha parts catalogue shows the rads as having different part numbers although they look identical in the diagrams.

I don't want to get into modding one Paul- by the time it's been done it may cost as much as a new one from Yamaha!! :)

I'm sure I've got about as far as I'm likely to with it, the comic has a few breakers with Aces in, so I'll keep looking.

looks like measuring up a 750 and an ace one might be worthwhile
