MTS 1100 clocks reverting to EU

Whenever my MTS1100 is switched off for more than a couple of hours the display reverts to 1000 eu settings - so is in kph and very annoying, I have to do the old press A and B together whilst switching on ignition every time, which as I only have the two hands is difficult!
I’ve tried a clock set off a different bike (MTS1000) and it works fine and doesn’t revert. I’m thinking it must therefore be the 1100 clocks that are faulty but other than the reverting issue they work fine. Can the clocks be reprogrammed not to do this or is there some kind of EPROM issue or something?

Thanks, seems to be a big can of worms ! It looks like BoB808 was close to getting somewhere but the thread just sort of fades out.
I thought in the intervening 10 years someone might have a definitive view. I suspect my ecu has also had a reflash which seems a common factor to cause the issue, but it seems strange that a dash off an older bike works fine!
