Quite a few years ago my mate/boss bought a bike off their designer/technical director who then took us round the showrooms and workshops where we could get up close with all their projects and spent a good 30 minutes talking to their engine builder about his latest build in progress on the bench. The detail in the selection of components was beyond belief, camshaft buckets were sized individually for optimum clearance and fit in the head, oil pumps although specially made for them were dismantled and also measured and rebuilt with perfect operating clearances. Every part of the body and chassis regardless of whether it would ever be seen or not was refurbished or re manufactured to absolute perfection and stored on dedicated shelving until it was time to fit it. But the best part was a look round the private car and bike collection which was crammed with WRC and endurance championship winning cars plus loads of classics most of which meant little to me outside of their obvious racing heritage. Then there were the bikes, half a dozen Moto GP Ducatis, factory world superbikes including one of Troy Baylis' bikes and of course a plethora of japanese offerings. We did try to estimate the value of them all as we drove home and it was literally millions.
